Decorated title label (a little worn & browned) on spine. 720pp. Illust. This copy was a gift from the famous Western historian, E. A. Brininstool. In ink on the ffep is written, "L. H. Spragle from my ole' pard E. A. Brininstool Los Angeles Calif. Nov/1918." The copy is not signed, however, by Brininstool. One of the rarest & most sought of all outlaw & law enforcement books, this is the story of Judge Isaac C. Parker's Fort Smith federal court which served Indian Territory for many years. This book is a primary source for countless books on territorial outlaws & lawmen. Very good condition, although the upper corner of the text block was bumped resulting in compression bending across the corner on each page -- typical for a bumped book. The first 60pp at the upper front corner have a very tiny chip, only about 1/16". There is the occasion page elsewhere with minuscule chip. Covers vg, if somewhat worn at head & toe of spine, & at the fore corners. Your bookseller had the hinges professionally redone. This is a tight, eminently usable copy.
