We suspect that the citation for it comes from this 2nd edition where, on the verso of the title page, the 1949 edition was noted as being registered & published by Baker & Scribner. Our research shows that Webb (1824 - 1887) had 45 works in print in 90 publications, with his specialty being teaching children how to read -- literacy building. This copy worn with some loss of the cover paper on the edges, especially the back cover. Boards worn at fore corners. Binding is reasonably tight.
