A Polish language book. Illustrated wraps with covers missing. 5 3/8" x 7 1/4". Pagination: (3) - 94. Illus. It is very difficult to do the bibliographical research on this volume because it is almost impossible to find any copies. We are not completely sure if we have represented the absolutely correct spelling of the author and publisher. We are not sure if the book was published in boards or wraps, but we are hazarding a guess it is the latter because of the gathering of the signatures vis a vis the missing pages 1, 2, & 95. Facing page of this copy says, "1635 OFIAR -- DLACZEGO?" (1635 Victims -- Why?). The back page (94) has a listing of ship disasters, 14 of them, between 1890 & 1905, giving dates, names of vessels, & loss of life. The cheap black & white illustrations in this book are of the ship, the lifeboats, the Carpathia, several passengers & crew members, a map of the North Atlantic, an iceberg, & the music of "Autumn". There is very occasional pencil writing in margins. There are some page edge chips, but only a few. Facing page has a 1 3/4" tear up to the lower staple. Paper is browned, but not brittle, throughout, and has plenty of flexibility. It does require careful handling. Rare. Poor. Paperback. (#SHEL478) $157.50

3407. Tombstone, Arizona. PHOTOGRAPHS. N.p., N.d., 0. Photographic Image. Not a book. A great group of five 7 1/2" x 9 1/2" unframed black & white glossy photos from Tombstone, Arizona, circa 1950. Digital images sent upon request. These photos were in a larger group of photos taken by an Army Air Force photographer. They show a true professional eye. An elderly, weather beaten gentleman in two of the images is unidentified, but he certainly captures the mythological essence of Arizona and the desert about mid 20th Century or earlier. One photo of him is a great looking waist-up portrait, & the other has him sitting on the window sill of an old building. The other photos include a "Welcome to Tombstone" sign with details about Boot Hill. There are two photos from Boot Hill: the grave of Mrs. Ah Lum (China Mary), & the graves & headboard of Tom McLowrey, Frank McLowrey, & Billie Clanton ("Murdered on the streets of Tombstone"). Note the variant spellings of the McLaurys & Billy Clanton! There is a Dec. 16 date for the death of "China Mary" on her headboard, instead of Dec. 6. On the McLaury photo, in the background are a couple of people on the horizon, one of them looking at what is apparently the Scheffelin monument. The condition of these photos is almost fine, with a small bump on one corner of a couple of them & one or two small thumb edge creases. These are perhaps unique original photos & will show beautifully when appropriately matted & framed. n.d. Very Good+. Paperback. (#0505139) $114.82
