Introduction
87DuplexIn the Network menu, Auto Negotiation mode is the default setting for initial startup.
Typically, the IP Phone E is connected to a network that supports Auto Negotiation, and the IP Phone E selects the best speed and duplex mode available. There is no intervention required under normal operation.
ATTENTIONNortel recommends that Auto Negotiation mode is used on the network and the
IP Phone E. Use Full Duplex mode only when the entire network is running in Full Duplex mode. Otherwise, a duplex mismatch results.
Note: Changing
the speed, or the duplex mode, or both on the IP
Phone E changes both the LAN
Ethernet port and PC EthernetPort interfaces.
If the IP Phone is connected to a network configured for Full Duplex mode only, the IP Phone E cannot automatically negotiate the proper configuration. Therefore,
in this instance, to allow the IP Phone 1140E
to work at the optimum speed and duplex mode, Full Duplex mode must be enabled.
Ignore GARPGratuitous Address Resolution Protocol (GARP) Protection prevents the IP
Phone E with SIP Firmware from GARP spoof attacks on the network.
The IP Phone E with SIP Firmware provides
the ability to ignore GARPmessages.
