2007 Season

REGULAR SEASON (playoff results at end of page)

COMMENTS: The Mets and Dodgers are locked up in a 1-game playoff, edging the Marlins

and Brewers by one game each.  The Padres and Braves finished strong, with a collective

13-1 record to seal their divisions.  Congrats to the Marlins, Brewers, Reds, and DBacks

for great seasons.  The AL had 3 100-win teams (compared to zero in real MLB).  The

DRays finished with a winning week to lock up the airtight WOR standings.  Congrats to

the Rangers, who finished with the best record in the AL this week.

PLAYOFFS:  The Met/Dodger game will be played Thursday; that will set NL matchups.

Playoff lineups are due Friday night; games will be run Saturday.  Lineup changes

should be emailed to Jon by Sunday; LCS games will be run Monday and World Series

games on Wednesday, one week from today.  In the AL, the Yanks play the Tigers and

the Indians draw the Angels.  Based on the WOR tiebreaker, the Angels have home field

advantage.

RULES:  The 1-game playoff will continue the ML season.  For the playoffs, all stats

are reset (no overuse or adjustments) and a 3-man rotation may be used without penalty.

DCS series are 5 games in the 2-2-1 format, LCS and WS series are 7 games with a 2-3-2

format.  Owners in the playoffs should use the website to complete their initial roster

and email Jon to indicate if they want a 4-man rotation (which has starter #1 pitch in

game 5).

Division Championship Series

Padres top Mets, 3-2.  After taking a 2-1 series lead,

the Mets dropped the last 2 games of the series while allowing

6 and 8 runs in the last 2 games.  Just like in real life,

the pitching collapsed.

Atlanta sweeps St. Louis.  The Cards scored 4 or more runs in

every game of the series, but couldn’t allow fewer than 7 in any

game. Congrats to the Braves on a great season!

Angels tip Indians, 3-2.  The Angels and Indians traded games,

with the Angles winning the odd-numbered games and the Indians

winning the even ones.  Kelvim Escobar struck out 11 in the

decisive 5th game.

Yankees get past Detroit, 3-1.  After taking a 10-5 beating in

game 1, the Yankees scored 10 or more runs in each remaining game.

ARod had 3 hits, a homer, and 3 RBI in the clincher.

League Championship Series

Yankees beat Angels, 4-1.  After dropping game 1 7-4, the

Yankees held the Halos to 4 runs or fewer to seal the deal

in 5 games.  Just to show they were better than that, the

Angels out-scored the Yanks 15-5 in the 2 consolation games.

The Braves and Padres had an epic series.  After Atlanta won

the first 3 games going away, the Padres squeaked by on a 2-1

score in game #4, then won the next 2 to force a game 7.  In that

battle, AJ Burnett and 3 relievers walked 11 batters but out-dueled

Jake Peavy 1-0.

World Series

The question going into the playoffs was:  Can anyone beat

the Yankees?  The answer was evidently no.  After dropping

the first 2 games, the Braves fought back to even up the

series.  The Yanks then unleashed their hitters and scores

18 runs in 18 innings to win the series in 6.

Congrats to the Yanks, who had the best record in the league

and also added the series title.  Congrats to Treff of the Braves,

who made his first World Series appearance and 6th playoff

appearance overall.

And thanks to all for a great year!
