National Association of Asian American Professionals (NAAAP) Atlanta invites local organizations to apply for 2016 NAAAP Atlanta Chopstix for Charity (CFC) Grants. Please review these guidelines carefully and submit your proposal in this application form. Grant requests are limited to a maximum of $5,000. Applications must be received by Sunday, January 15, 2017 by 11:59pm EST. No extension will be granted.

About Chopstix for Charity

Chopstix for Charity (CFC), founded in 1997, is an annual fundraising event made possible through the collective volunteer efforts of various Asian American organizations in Atlanta. This included the Organization of Chinese Americans (OCA), the Japanese American Citizens League (JACL), and the National Association of Asian American Professionals Atlanta Chapter (NAAAP Atlanta). In 2002, NAAAP Atlanta received its 501(c)(3) status, and assumed the CFC fiscal responsibilities.

In 2007, CFC was the signature-evening event at the 21st annual NAAAP National Convention & Diversity Career Fair. Since then, CFC’s Organizing Committee officially merged with NAAAP Atlanta's Board in order to strengthen its impact and connections within the Atlanta metro community and surrounding areas.

The National Association of Asian American Professionals (NAAAP) is the first pan-Asian American professional organization in North America with 501(c)(3) chapters and start-up ventures in more than 26 cities in the U.S. and Canada. NAAAP Atlanta is an award-winning chapter that strives to be the premier network of Asian American professionals with the purpose of building leaders to make a difference in government, education, business, and the community.

NAAAP Atlanta's CFC connects corporations, small businesses and individuals to the local Asian Pacific Islander community through an annual fundraising event and grants to non-profit organizations. Since its inception, CFC has issued funding amounting to more than $500,000.

Eligibility

The NAAAP Atlanta Chopstix for Charity Grants Program seeks to fund not-for-profit Asian and non-Asian organizations that provide services or benefits to Asian and Pacific Islander communities in metro-Atlanta.

In the past, CFC grants were only issued to 501(c)(3) organizations. Since 2009, this requirement was removed and NAAAP Atlanta now welcomes applications from any established not-for-profit organization or association in the Atlanta area that provides valued services benefiting the Asian and Pacific Islander community. Eligible organizations must be geographically located in the metro-Atlanta area. Metro-Atlanta counties include Barrow, Bartow, Butts, Carroll, Cherokee, Clayton, Cobb, Coweta, Dawson, DeKalb, Douglas, Fayette, Forsyth, Fulton, Gwinnett, Haralson, Heards, Henry, Jasper, La mar, Meriwether, Newton, Paulding, Pickens, Pike, Rockdale, Spalding, and Walton

The CFC Grants Program has particular interest in funding organizations or projects that directly engage members of the Asian and Pacific Islander community in making transformative, positive change within their own community. Although all requests are considered, CFC favors new and emerging organizations or projects that are collaborative, sustainable, and has potential to have a positive impact beyond the funded grant period.

The following are NOT eligible for funding:

  • Grants to individuals

  • Public relations programs or campaigns (public education campaigns are an exception)

  • Grants to any organization for the purpose of conducting religious programs or activities

  • Political parties, organizations for specific candidates, political action committees and/or
any organizations that exist to support them

  • Government and other municipal organizations

  • Building campaigns (no bricks and mortar)

Organizations that promote professional development, arts and culture, civic affairs, community development, education, or social/health and human services are particularly encouraged to apply.
