2009 Leadership in Technology Award Each year the Association of Women in Computing–Houston Chapter honors outstanding Houston area women pursuing careers in technology. The honorees are chosen through a formal nomination and selection process. The 2009 Leadership in Technology Award winners will be honored at the Top Houston Women in Technology Gala on June 6, 2009, at the Houston Inter-Continental Hotel. Proceeds from this annual Gala fund the Kathi Bowles Scholarship Fund.

Qualifications for Nomination
Education level attained – undergraduate, graduate, or doctorate degrees; professional development
Major accomplishments – contributions to technology or innovation (such as patents, software development, presenting papers, mentoring, or adding value to technology field)
Community involvement – ways that nominee gives back to the community, such as participating in women’s organizations or other professional organizations, serving on corporate or advisory boards, participating in special interest groups, contributing time and resources to philanthropic activities, and other community service

Nominees are required to submit an official nomination form, a current resume, and a short bio.
Nominations submitted without this information will not be considered. An $1,800 sponsorship fee must be pledgedat the time of the nomination.This fee is typically paid by the honoree’s employer or by another sponsor, such as a vendor or supplier. A significant portion of the sponsorship fee will be deposited in the Kathi Bowles Scholarship Fund.
The Kathi Bowles Scholarship Fund recognizes women pursuing a degree in a technology field and demonstrating outstanding service and leadership to their high school, university, or community. The AWC Houston chapter scholarship was established in 1988 to honor the memory of one of its members, Kathi Bowles. Over the past 10 years, AWC has provided over $70,000 in scholarships for female students pursuing technology degrees.

If I am selected as a Leadership in Technology award recipient, I hereby authorize the use, in connection with the Top Houston Women in Technology Gala, of my name, my company’s name, photographs, video recordings, and audio recordings of me from whatever source. I agree that no compensation shall be due me or my company for such usage. I further understand that if I am selected as an award recipient, a sponsorship fee in the amount of $1,800 is required by April 30, 2009.
