BLAZE BASEBALL

Dear Parent and Player:

We are excited to embark on our fourth season of Canon Mac Blaze Baseball and invite you to tryout on July 18th, 19th, 20th and 25th with a make-up date on August 12th. Please see the document titled “Blaze 2018 Tryouts” for additional details. Our mission is to be a premier, single-community travel program that focuses on developing the baseball skills and character of each player while building competitive teams to represent our community at tournaments both locally and out-of-state. The 2017 season was a success in that regard with our teams winning or competing in the championship of 19 tournaments across several states.
The following information provides further details about the program but please do not hesitate to ask additional questions, should they arise. Our email address is cmytba@gmail.com.

Off-Season Training:

There will be 12 indoor team practice sessions beginning in early January and ending in late March. Practices will be held once a week for 2 hours at the Bianco School of Baseball (days/times still to be determined). They will typically consist of 45 minutes of on field training, 45 minutes of hitting instruction and 45 minutes of pitching instruction. For further information about the Bianco School of Baseball please visit http://www.biancobaseball.com/. Additionally, each team will have the opportunity to hold a second weekly practice session at The Armory. Coaches can use this practice to focus on arm care, pitching and/or catching and any other areas they feel need improvement.

Tournaments/League:

Teams will play in three to four tournaments as well as participate in a local travel league, most likely the Pittsburgh Metro League or the Atlantic Coast Baseball league. Teams may choose to play in more tournaments at an additional cost. Travel for tournaments outside of the Pittsburgh area will typically be within a 2 to 5 hour drive from Canonsburg. Finally, our 12U teams will attend a week long tournament at Cooperstown Dreams Park.

Uniforms/Equipment:

Players will receive 2 full game uniforms, a bat bag and batting helmet. The game uniforms will consist of 2 hats, 2 game jerseys and 2 pairs of game pants. We will also provide practice jerseys that must be worn to each practice session. It is your child’s responsibility to dress appropriately for both practices and games.

Cost:

The total base cost of the program will be $950. The base cost includes the indoor practice facility, the Armory, uniforms/equipment, team insurance, umpire fees, league fees and tournament fees. Please note that the base cost for the 2018 season does not include the CMYBA league fee. All league registration fees and mandatory fundraising costs must be paid directly to CMYBA.

The cost for Cooperstown will be in addition to the base cost and will be detailed in a separate letter for those trying out for the 12u team. There will also be an additional costs ranging from $25-$50 for teams that choose to play in a fall league and for teams that choose to play in a Ripken Tournament. Payment plans and fundraising opportunities will be detailed once teams are finalized.
Thank you for considering Canon Mac Blaze Baseball. We look forward to seeing you at tryouts and wish everyone the best of luck!

On behalf of the Travel Board,

Bryan Steele
