Pablo the Reindeer (G)

When Santa goes to Mexico,

He takes a reindeer called Pablo.

Pablo can sing and dance and sway,

He leads the reindeer all the way!

Santa can’t speak the Espanol,

So he depends on good old Paul.

All the muchachos love him so,

Pablo, the reindeer from Mexico!
Without him …..

Part 2: La, la, la, la.

Santa would not know where he’s going

Part 2: ay, yi, yi yi

Without him ….

Part 2: La, la, la, la

He would not know if it was showing!

Part 2: South of the border?
Pablo can do the cha-cha-cha.

He makes the children laugh, ha, ha!

All the muchachos shout “Olé!”

Pablo, please hurry back, they say.

Counting Sheep / Swinging Shepherd Blues (C)

When Momma caught insomnia,

She swore that counting sheep,

Would make her go to bye-byes right away.

But, for a shepherd, what’s the use

in counting sheep to go to sleep,

When we count the bleating things all day?
Counting sheep. Counting sheep.

A little bit of shut-eye we could use.

Counting sheep. Counting sheep.

We’ve got those counting sheep-type,

Sleepy shepherd blues
Along a mountain pass,

There is a patch of grass,

Where the swinging shepherd plays his tune,

His sheep never stray, dancing all day,

Till they see the pale and yellow moon.

And then he leads his flock

And homeward they all rock

To the tune of the Swing Shepherd Blues!

[2 bars of blues] Play those haunting trills.

[3 bars of blues] Let it echo through the hills,

The Swing------ing Shepherd Blues!

Then through the starry night

He sees a shining light,

A host of angels singing overhead.

To Bethlehem town, he must go down,

There he’ll see a baby in a manger bed.

And with the cherubim,

He’ll play the pipe for him,

To the tune of the Swinging Shepherd Blues.

[2 bars of blues] Play those haunting trills… etc

Reindeer Rap (G)

We fly through the air

Like we know that we should,

To bring you presents and make Santa look good!

We want you to know what we just don’t get it!

We do all the work while Santa gets the credit!

Without us…… Santa’s nothing!
There’s Dasher and Dancer and Prancer and Vixen,

Comet and Cupid and Donner and Blitzen.

We even have a standby who everyone knows,

My name is Rudolph, with the bright red nose.

Without us…… Santa’s nothing!
Solo line sung

Upon on the housetop the reindeer pause

“Do you know what it’s like, pullin’ ‘The Clause’?”

Every year he gets bigger and bigger!

You really would think he might watch his figure!

Santa thought about a snowmobile,

he even tried a cycle

A train or a plane he thought he might like,

But he’ll stick with us ‘til his dyin’ day.

‘cause he knows we’re the ones

who can pull his sleigh!

Without us…… Santa’s nothing!
Now don’t get us wrong, he’s a really nice guy.

And we all do enjoy flying through the sky.

It’s just that we want the attention we deserve!

And ignoring us really takes a lot of nerve!

So this Christmas Eve when you close your eyes tight,

Please remember that we’ve been flyin’ all night!

Slippin’ and slidin’ on every roof top,

Killin’ ourselves makin’ Santa look hot!

Without us…… Santa’s nothing!

Without us…… Santa’s nothing!

With us…… he’s somethin!

Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer (G)

Rudolph, the red-nosed reindeer,

Had a very shiny nose.

And if you ever saw it,

You would even say it glows.

All of the other reindeer,

Used to laugh and call him names,

They’d never let poor Rudolph,

Join in any reindeer games.
Then one foggy Christmas Eve,

Santa came to say,

“Rudolph, with your nose so bright,

Won’t you guide my sleigh tonight?”

Then how the reindeer love him,

As they shouted out with glee,

Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer,

You’ll go down in history.

[INSTRUMENTAL BREAK]

You’ll .. go...down .. in his-to-ry!
Santa, oh Santa (G)

Now ev’ry year on Christmas Eve

our journey is the same,

Old Santa drives us way off course,

Yet we receive the blame!

We’re flying here, we’re flying there,

It’s such a busy night,

But if we had a compass

we would have a simpler flight!
Oh Santa, oh Santa, listen to us please.

Santa, dear Santa,

we’re down upon our knees.

Let’s cure your ge-o-graphical mishap.

We’d find our destination

if you’d only bring a map!
[Instrumental break]

We think we are in Portishead

And yet we’re in Dundee.

Did we turn left instead of right

Across the Irish sea?

We travel on to Germany

But find it’s Ecuador.

Then Santa says, “I’m sorry, but

We’ve been here twice before!”
Oh Santa, oh Santa, listen to us please.

Santa, dear Santa, …. etc (x2)
We’d find our destination

if you’d on…..ly bring….. a….. map!
Something told the Wild Geese (G)

Something told the wild geese, it was time to go.

Though the fields lay golden,

Something whispered ‘Snow’.

Leaves were green and stirring,

Berries lustre glossed.

But beneath warm feathers,

Something cautioned,

something cautioned, ‘Frost’.

All the sagging orchards,

Steamed with amber spice.

But each wild beast stiffened

At remembered ice.
Something told the wild geese, it was time to fly.

Summer sun was on their wings.

Winter, winter, winter in their cry.

A Bird’s-Eye View (C & G)

We’re flying south over snowy rooftops,

flying south for a life that’s new.

We’re flying south over snowy rooftops,

Looking for the baby

From a bird’s-eye view.

We’re flying now over flowing rivers,

Flying now for a life that’s new.

We’re flying now over flowing rivers,

Knowing that we must get through.

We’re flying high over hills and valleys,

Flying high for a life that’s new.

We’re flying high over hills and valleys,

Looking for a baby……………….

From a bird’s-eye view.

While Shepherds Watched their Flocks (C & G)

Whilst shepherds watched their flocks by night,

All seated on the ground,

The angel of the Lord came down,

And glory shone around.
‘Fear not’, said he, for mighty dread

Had seized their troubled mind;

‘glad tidings of great joy I bring

To you and all mankind.’

Thus spake the seraph,

And forthwith appeared a shining throng

Of angels praising God,

Who thus addressed their joyful song.

‘All glory be to God on high,

And to the earth be peace.

Goodwill, henceforth from heaven to men

Begin and never cease.’

Away in a Manger (C & G)

Away in a manger, no crib for a bed,

The little Lord Jesus laid down his sweet head.

The stars in the bright sky

looked down where he lay,

The little Lord Jesus asleep on the hay.

The cattle are lowing, the baby awakes.

But little Lord Jesus no crying he makes.

I love thee Lord Jesus, look down from the sky,

And stay by my side until morning is nigh.

Be near me Lord Jesus, I ask thee to stay

Close by me forever, and love me I pray.

Bless all the dear children in thy tender care,

And fit us for heaven to live with thee there.

Infant Holy (C)

Infant holy, infant lowly,

For his bed a cattle stall;

Oxen lowing, little knowing

Christ the babe is Lord of all.

Swift are winging, angels singing,

Nowells ringing, tidings bringing

Christ the babe is Lord of all.

Christ the babe is Lord of all.
Flocks were sleeping,

Shepherds keeping vigil ‘til the morning new;

Saw the glory, heard the story,

Tidings of a gospel true.

Thus rejoicing, free from sorrow,

Praises voicing, greet the morrow,

Christ the babe was born for you!

Christ the babe was born for you!

Unto us a Child is Born (C & G)

Unto us a child is born,

Unto us a son is given,

He shall reign in all the earth.

He will be called Emmanuel! … (x2)
Angel voices sing,

Hallelujahs ring.

For today in Bethelehem,

The love of God has come to men,

The saviour of the world is Christ the King!

Unto us a child is born,

Unto us a son is given ….etc
Leave your cares aside,

Seek and you will find,

For today in Bethlehem,

The love of God has come to men,

The saviour of the world is Jesus Christ.

Unto us a child is born,

Unto us a son is given ….etc
Come let us adore,

Now and evermore,

For today in Bethlehem,

The love of God has come to men,

The saviour of the world Is Jesus Christ!

Unto us a child is born,

Unto us a son is given …. (x3)

There’ll be a new world beginning from tonight!

When I climb up to my saddle,

Gonna take Him to my heart,

There’ll be a new world beginning from tonight!
Right across the prairie,

Clear across the valley,

Straight across the heart of every man.

There’ll be a right new brand of living

That’ll sweep like lightning fire

And take away the hate from every land. [Repeat]
