A. It is recommended that the Board of Education accept the Business Administrator’s certification that the total of encumbrances and expenditures for each line item account do not exceed the line item appropriations in accordance with 6A:23A-16- 10(c) 3, for the month of November 2014. [Reference G-3].

It is recommended that the Board of Education certify, after review of the school business administrator’s and treasurer’s monthly fiscal reports and upon consultation with the appropriate school district officials, shall certify that no fund has been overexpended and sufficient funds are available to meet the district’s financial obligations for the remainder of the fiscal year in accordance with 6A:23A – 16-10(c) 4, for the month of November 2014. 13. Curriculum Committee:

Mrs. Wachter will report.
A. It is recommended that the Board of Education ratify the following High School activities as approved by the Superintendent:
1. Science League to Seneca High School, Tabernacle, NJ on Thursday, January 15, 2015; Thursday, February 12, 2015; Thursday, March 12, 2015; and Thursday, April 9, 2015; 40 students and 1 staff member leaving at 3:00 PM and returning at 6:00 PM. The purpose of the trip is to participate in competition. Board of Education responsibility is $255.26 per bus.
2. Advanced Graphic Design students to QVC, West Chester, PA on Friday, January 16, 2015 (originally approved for Friday, January 9, 2015); 28 students and 2 staff members leaving at 8:00 AM and returning at 2:00 PM. The purpose of the trip is to tour working in-house design and television studio.

Board of Education responsibility is $332.70 per bus.



3. Mock Trial students to Mt. Holly Court House, Mt. Holly, NJ on Monday, January 20, 2015 and Tuesday, January 21, 2015; 143 students and 2 staff members leaving at 4:15 PM and returning at 8:00 PM. The purpose of the trip is to participate in Mock Trial competition. Board of Education responsibility is $246.30 per bus per day.

B. It is recommended that the Board of Education ratify the following Middle School activities as approved by the Superintendent:
1. Team 8A Accelerated Language Arts students to Camden County College, Blackwood, NJ on Thursday, February 12, 2015; 32 students, 3 staff members and 3 chaperones leaving at 8:30 AM and returning at 12:30 PM. The purpose of the trip is to see performance of “Romeo & Juliet” to enhance language arts curriculum. Board of Education responsibility is $363 per bus.
2. Dance Club/Art Club to Annenberg Center and Magic Gardens, Philadelphia, PA on Friday, March 27, 2015; 30-40 students and 3 staff members leaving at 9:30 AM and returning at 1:00 PM. The purpose of the trip is to see African dance/choir performance and mosaic museum. There is no cost to the Board of Education.
3. Team 7B to Amico Island and Golden Corral Restaurant, Delran, NJ on Thursday, May 21, 2015 (rain date is May 22, 2015); 120 students and 9 staff members leaving at 9:00 AM and returning at 2:00 PM. The purpose of the trip is to learn about habitat then lunch. There is no cost to the Board of Education.

C. It is recommended that the Board of Education ratify the following Elementary School activities as approved by the Superintendent:
1. 1st grades (Harsche, Cusack, Gray, Stikeleather) to Academy of Natural Sciences, Philadelphia, PA on Wednesday, April 22, 2015; 96 students, 5 staff members and 28 chaperones leaving at 9:00 AM and returning at 2:45 PM. The purpose of the trip is the culminating activity on unit of habitats, life cycles. There is no cost to the Board of Education.
2. Advanced Band at Delran Intermediate School to Rancocas Valley Regional High School, Mt. Holly, NJ on Friday, June 5, 2015; 66 students, 2 staff members and 2 chaperones leaving at 9:00 AM and returning at 2:00 PM. The purpose of the trip is to participate in South Jersey Elementary School Band Festival. Board of Education responsibility is $246.30 per bus.
3. 4th Grade GT class to Memorial School, Cinnaminson, NJ on Friday, March 27, 2015; 21 students, 2 staff members and 1 chaperone leaving at 8:45 AM and returning at 2:15 PM. The purpose of the trip is to attend Brain Drain games. Board of Education responsibility is $200.00 per bus.

D. It is recommended that the Board of Education approve Susan Morris, Director of Education at The Bridge Academy, to provide dyslexia training for selected staff as required by the state on January 16, 2015 (in-service day).  The fee of $750 is funded by NCLB Title IIA.

E. It is recommended that the Board of Education approve the POGIL (Process Oriented Guided Inquiry Learning) Project facilitator, Beff Mancini, to present a workshop for high school science teachers on Wednesday, June 24, 2014, to provide instruction in inquiry -based learning.  The fee which includes all materials is $720 and is funded by NCLB Title IIA.

It is recommended that the Board of Education approve a Delran High School student to attend the 2015 session of the American Legion Auxiliary Jersey Girls’ State Program to be held at Georgian Court University, Lakewood, NJ from June 21st to June 26th, 2015. Cost to the Board of Education is $220.00.

A. It is recommended that the Board of Education approve the employment of Jennifer Davis as Teacher of Second Grade at the Millbridge Elementary School (filling a leave of absence position for Elise Landolt) beginning on January 30, 2015 and ending on June 23, 2015 at an annual base salary of $51,280 (BA, Step 1) to be prorated.

B. It is recommended that the Board of Education approve the employment of Maria Dunas as Teacher of Second Grade at the Millbridge Elementary School at an annual base salary of $51,280 (BA, Step 1) to be prorated effective January 22, 2015.

C. It is recommended that the Board of Education approve the employment of Patrick Myers as Teacher of First Grade at the Millbridge Elementary School at an annual base salary of $52,480 (BA, Step 7) to be prorated effective at a date to be determined by the Superintendent.

D. It is recommended that the Board of Education approve the resignation of Diane Probst, General Aide at the Delran Intermediate School, effective the close of business on January 16, 2015.

E. It is recommended that the Board of Education approve the resignation of Nicole LaRocca as Head Girls Lacrosse Coach at the Delran High School, effective December 11, 2014.

F. It is recommended that the Board of Education approve a paid and unpaid leave of absence for Ruth Kim, Teacher of Third Grade at the Delran Intermediate School. Paid leave (use of 5 sick days and 5 family illness days) will begin on April 13, 2015 and end on April 24, 2015. Unpaid leave under the provisions of the NJ Family Leave Act will begin on April 27, 2015 and end on May 1, 2015. Unpaid leave under the provisions of the Federal Family and Medical Leave Act will begin on May 4, 2015 and end on June 23, 2015. Mrs. Kim will return to work on September 1, 2015.

G. It is recommended that the Board of Education approve a paid and unpaid leave of

absence for Sarah Rivera, Teacher of Business at the Delran High School.  Paid leave

(use of 4 sick days) will begin on April 13, 2015 and end on April 16, 2015.  Unpaid

leave under the provisions of the NJ Family Leave Act will begin on April 17, 2015 and end on September 22, 2015.  Unpaid leave under the provisions of the Federal Family

and Medical Leave Act will begin on September 23, 2015 and end on October 2, 2015.

Mrs. Rivera will return to work on October 5, 2015.

It is recommended that the Board of Education approve an unpaid, intermittent leave of absence under the provisions of the Federal Family and Medical Leave Act for Leigh Smith, Teacher of Chemistry at the Delran High School, beginning on January 13, 2015 and ending on January 12, 2016 for a maximum of 60 days.

It is recommended that the Board of Education approve an unpaid, intermittent leave of absence under the provisions of the Federal Family and Medical Leave Act for Lisa Gonzalez, Teacher of Fifth Grade at the Delran Intermediate School, beginning on January 7, 2015and ending on January 6, 2016 for a maximum of 60 days.

AA. It is recommended that the Board of Education approve the following Personnel Resolution pursuant to Emergent Approval of Employee Hiring-N.J.S.A. 1A: 6-7.1 et seq. revised June 30, 1998:
WHEREAS N.J.S.A. 18A:6-7.1 et. seq. has been revised and now requires emergent approval to employ an individual prior to receiving criminal history background

clearance.


BE IT RESOLVED that an application be submitted to the County Superintendent

of schools in accordance with the revised statute, requesting emergent approval of

employee hiring for the following individuals for the reasons as indicated:
