Grants and funding information:

Museums & Galleries Queensland has compiled a listing of funding and grant opportunities of interest to museums, galleries and other collecting institutions in Queensland.
The grants and funds are organised into areas of activity. These include:

Provides multi-year core program funding for small to medium arts organisations.

Australian Government Department of Social Services – Multicultural Arts and Festivals Grants

Staff salaries and on-costs that can be directly attributed to the provision of the Activity.

National Library of Australia – Community Heritage Grants Program

Preservation and collection management training

Regional Galleries Association of Queensland (RGAQ) Professional Development Bursaries for Organisational Initiatives

Grants to assist volunteer-run galleries to undertake organisational initiatives. These might include:

  • Costs towards improvements in the gallery/museum exhibition program such as touring exhibition fees and display improvements.

  • An appropriate consultant to work with the institution on skill development in areas such as Education and Public Programs; Exhibition Development; or Strategic Planning and Policy Development.

  • On-site training workshops and seminars in specialist areas such as volunteer recruitment, board management and museum/gallery practice.

First day of every month until funds are expended

Conservation/ Preservation

Arts Queensland – Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF)

Contemporary collections/stories: to preserve and provide access to locally held collections of significance, and collect and tell local stories from the past and the present that can demonstrate state and/or local significance.

Department of Veteran’s Affairs – Saluting their Service - Commemorations Grants

  • Restoration or upgrading of community war memorials and their surrounds

  • Restoration, preservation and interpretation of Australian wartime memorabilia for public display

  • Restoration of and new commemorative plaques and honour boards on public display

Department Of Veteran’s Affairs – Saluting Their Service Commemorations Grant

Up to $3,000 is available for restoration, preservation and interpretation of Australian wartime memorabilia for public display; commemoration of significant anniversaries of battles and other military operations; publishing unit wartime histories, where none exists.

Up to $4,000 is available for restoration and upgrading community war memorials.

A funding platform for creative projects. Everything from films, games, and music to art, design, and technology. 

If people like the project, they can pledge money to make it happen. If the project succeeds in reaching its funding goal, all backers' are charged. If the project falls short, no one is charged. Funding on Kickstarter is all-or-nothing.

Disaster relief

Arts Queensland – Arts-led Recovery Quick Response Grants

This process will become a permanent part of the suite of RADF resources, and will enable Councils that have been affected by a disaster, to administer RADF grants in a simplified and responsive way until it is practical to return to the usual RADF grant rounds and RADF Committee processes.
