Installing the DeployMe App for Android
You’ve read the DeployMe App Quick Reference Guide and are ready to install it on your phone. You can install the app if you have a Google Android, e.g. Samsung, Huawei, HTC, Motorola, Kyocera, LG.
This guide
This guide is designed to help you get started using DeployMe. This guide uses screen images obtained from a Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3. There may be small differences in the appearance of the app when using other devices however the basic operation of the app is the same across all android devices.
Supported devices
In order to load the DeployMe app on your smartphone or tablet, you will need to be using Android v4.4 (KitKat) or later. To find out which version of Android you’re using, visit this web page: http://www.wikihow.com/Check-What-Android-Version-You-Have.
During the installation process, there will be a number of steps that will modify the security settings on your device. The Department of Communities, Child Safety and Disability Services (DCCSDS) are not able to make the DeployMe app available through the Google Play Store as there is information delivered through the app that is not suitable for wide distribution. Android devices have inbuilt settings that discourage the download of apps from outside the Google Play Store. The steps below temporarily bypass these settings to enable you to install the app. These settings can be reversed after the installation process.
Mobile Data Disclaimer
If you are installing the app on your personal device and have your mobile data switched ON, please be aware of possible mobile data carriage charges by your telecommunications provider.
The application services may display, include or make available content, data, information, or materials from third parties (“Social Feeds”) or provide links to certain web sites.
By using the services, you acknowledge and agree that the Application Provider (DCCSDS) is not responsible for any data costs you incur on your personal phone by using the DeployMe app with Mobile Data switched ON.
Installing the app
Unlike other apps, DeployMe is only available directly from DCCSDS and cannot be downloaded from the Google Play Store.
This means that before you can install DeployMe, you may need to change the settings on your device.
To install DeployMe -
Ensure that your device (smartphone or tablet) is connected to Wi-Fi. The DeployMe install package is 40MB – 80 MB depending on the content loaded.

Tap on Apps on your device home screen

Tap the Settings icon

Tap the More button

Tap the Security menu item

Tap to select the checkbox titled Unknown Sources.
NOTE: You can reverse this change at the end of the installation process to protect your phone from unauthorised installations

Within the Unknown Sources popup, tap OK
Press the home button to return to the home screen

Open your mail account and open the email titled New! DeployMe App for Ready Reserves
NOTE: You will need to have sent the email to a mail account accessible from your smartphone or tablet

Scroll through the page and tap Download

You will receive a warning popup. Tap OK

A brief popup will appear advising of the download taking place and the download icon will flash to advise that the download is in progress
Download Icon
When the download icon stops flashing, swipe down on it to take the next step

In the Notifications window, tap on Download complete

Tap on Install

The installation screen will be displayed
This may display for a minute or two depending on the model of your device

When the installation is complete, you can open the app

Enter the Login Name and Password and tap Login
NOTE: your Login Name and Password will be included in the installation email you receive after you have clicked on the installation link

After you have provided your login details, the Disclaimer page (including the information above) will be displayed. Read the material carefully and if you wish to continue, tap I AGREE

The initialisation will commence
Note: This may take a few minutes

Using Mobile Data?
When completing the steps above, did you use Wi-Fi or your device’s mobile data capability to perform the installation? If it was through mobile data, you will need to complete the following steps to view the content delivered by the DeployMe app. Remember, you are responsible for paying all charges for mobile data used by the DeployMe app.

The Event screen will display there are no events. Click on the ‘hamburger’ menu
Note: If a tip similar to the one below appears, tap the screen to access the menu above

The content will now be available
