Kevin has taken on that same mentality this time around and refuses to let his current situation hold him back. By Any Means 2 represents the relentless attitude he has toward his life, his family and his music. I watched Kevin put his everything into these songs. The emotional video arrived alongside a deeply personal handwritten message posted on the multi-platinum certified rap superstar’s official Instagram – Gates’ first public statement since his October 2016 imprisonment. Today, Kevin Gates is among hip-hop’s greatest new stars, second only to Drake as the best-selling hip-hop artist of 2016. “ISLAH,” the Baton Rouge-based rapper’s acclaimed debut album, was certified platinum by the RIAA for sales in excess of 1 million – 2016’s only debut album to receive platinum certification within one year.
