They also have outdoor meetings, to learn more about the world around us. Their motto is " Igniting Minds" - their own, and those of the people around them.
The members of the book club are mostly in classes 8 and 9, though the youngest is only in 6th. By taking part in this book club, young children not only inculcate the habit of reading, but also develop our speaking skills and understanding of the world around us. They learn how to be a part of and contribute to a large group, and to interact with people of different ages and from different schools.
Presently, they are working on organising a programme, from which all proceeds will go to the Regional Cancer Centre (RCC) and the National Institute of Speech and Hearing (NISH). The musical programme is directed by Hareesh Menon of Class XII from our school and played by four of our students Sanjana Scaria and Lakshmi Menon of Class IX, Aparna Vijayakumar of Class VIII and Navneeth Mohan of Class VII based on the book " Goal Butterfingers!" by author Prof. Khyrunnisa A. The children are taking sole charge, with minimal help from parents and adults. They have hired no professional help, and are doing everything on their own, from scriptwriting, to choreography, to meeting sponsors. Through this programme they not only do their part to help others, but also learn how to take up charge and responsibility on a large scale. The musical will be conducted on February 3, 2013 at Vyloppily Samskrithi Bhavan, at 6 pm.

Value Education
Children today are subjected to confusing messages and an overdose of information. In order to teach children that there are core values relevant across the world, we hold value education classes in school on a regular basis. At these classes we try to ensure that children internalize these values so that they can apply it in real life and cope with the situations they face. In the changing scenario children often develop the wrong attitudes. Therefore we have chosen ‘Punctuality’ as the theme for this year and several school assemblies have been conducted based on this theme.
Career Guidance and Counselling
The Career Care Centre started off this term with a two week individual counselling session for the 12th Standard students by Mrs Betty Ninan , School Career Counsellor. During these sessions the students were given information on the various career possibilities, details of various colleges and procedures for applying.
The Aptitude Tests and Counselling were conducted for the 10th standard. The Counselling session was mandatory for all tenth standard students. Various issues related to studies, stress, timetable setting and subject choices for the 11th standard were discussed. Problems brought forth during the counselling were addressed. During this year Life Skill Education classes were started in the Junior school to prepare the students to face the challenges of modern life .
Counselling is also given to the slow learners, children with attention deficit disorder and other personal problems by Ms Hannah Moncy, the School Counsellor. We are very grateful to both Ms Betty Ninan George and Ms Hannah Moncy Kakkassery for the painstaking services rendered to our students.
REMEDIAL CLASSES : Students requiring remedial coaching were identified immediately after the First Mid Term Examination. These students were given remedial coaching according to a fixed timetable during the zero periods. The parents were also informed. Whenever the students failed to make much progress the parents were called for a discussion with the Principal, Headmistress and the Teacher concerned. In certain cases these students were also sent to the school Counsellor.
