Recruitment of Potential Legacies of Sigma Phi Epsilon


Whereas

Sigma Phi Epsilon was founded on the cardinal principles of Virtue, Diligence, and Brotherly Love; and


Whereas

Sigma Phi Epsilon's ability to fulfill its mission is dependent upon its ability to recruit men of character who were raised by families who embrace our cardinal principles; and


Whereas

Membership in Sigma Phi Epsilon is a lifetime commitment; and


Whereas

In order to create a lifetime experience, it is incumbent upon the Grand Chapter and each local chapter to embrace the membership of potential legacy members and continue the development that Sigma Phi Epsilon alumni started as parents, therefore be it


resolved

That all potential legacy members be invited to chapter recruitment activities and formally evaluated for potential membership in Sigma Phi Epsilon; and be it


further resolved

That a chapter maintain its right and responsibility to determine membership, and deny membership to a potential legacy member if and only if the chapter determines: the potential legacy member is not interested in the Balanced Man Program experience; has acted in a manner conflicting with our cardinal principles; or fails to meet objective recruitment standards agreed upon by the chapter and used to evaluate other candidates; and be it


further resolved

That should a chapter choose to withhold the offer of membership from a potential legacy member that the chapter president or vice president of recruitment must notify the Sigma Phi Epsilon alumnus related to the potential new member and his partner or spouse of their decision and the reasoning behind it before the end of the academic term; and be it


further resolved

That the chapter will share a copy of the correspondence to the alumnus with Sigma Phi Epsilon's Chief Executive Officer; and be it


further resolved

That should a chapter violate the expectations set forth in this resolution the chapter will not be in good standing with the Grand Chapter, the chapter's charter status will be reviewed by the national board directors and its credentials at the upcoming conclave may be withheld.
