PROFILE

I am an enthusiastic and experienced software engineer with two years experience of working within a mid-sized business intelligence software house. I have a degree in Business Intelligence Systems and looking to enter a progressive Esports company. I have just returned from travelling for 16 months, 6 of which involved working in Australia.

Manly Golf Club, Sep 2016 - Dec 2016:

Job Role; a range of duties for functions at the golf club from weddings to corporate golf days. Manly Golf Club is rated amongst the top 4 in NSW and with that expects a very high standard. I was able to adapt to this easily whilst enjoying myself in a role I had not performed before.



Software Engineer (Payroll and HR)
The Access Group, Sep 2013- Oct 2015:

Job Role; supporting customers with issues within the company’s payroll and HR software and general queries. Liaising with high profile clients as their dedicated engineer and communicating with our development and sales departments.



  • Progressed from team member to senior payroll and HR payroll integration engineer, demonstrating my motivation and reliability.

  • With my excellent communication skills, I built a strong rapport with customers, illustrated by becoming the preferred engineer for some of our biggest clients. By liaising with customers direct through telephone and email, I was able to utilize my strong analytical skills to identify and provide a resolute solution to their query on payrolls with up to 15,000 employees.

  • Autonomously managing up to 25 separate enquiries simultaneously enabled me to develop my organisation and time-management skills. My ability to prioritise my work load was key to identifying which issues required more urgent action, thus resolving all issues in a satisfactory time.

  • As a senior team member, I was able to demonstrate my ability to work well within any team when providing support to team members with more complex issues. With my strong communication and interpersonal skills, I was able help team members to develop their knowledge in order to improve our overall service.

  • With my strong understanding of adhering to regulations on parental pay, redundancies, cessations, pensions, tax code queries and general payroll running requirements, I was responsible for advising customers of any actions required and assisting them when completing obligations required by HMRC.

My role was primarily to phone up clients and update current database entries with contact details and customer requirements. I worked to a high turn over of entries whilst maintaining a very high level of quality. I was able to quickly pick up their system and excel in the position.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS


  • Qualified at level 2 SQL: I am able to understand stored procedures, run queries to find anomalies or as a means of reporting and updating and deleting information directly from the SQL database, understanding the Payroll product from a front and back end.

  • Experience in IIS applications: Understanding how the IIS applications pools support Web Application software and setting up the appropriate permissions and app pools to support this.

  • Crystal Reports: I am able to create and adapt crystal reports to produce reports based on payroll or/and HR data to report to managers in different formats and illustrating various criteria’s.

  • Highly computer literate including the use of a range of office, multimedia and web development applications. Proficient at typing, up to 74 WPM.

  • Rugby coaching experience delivered to secondary school students.

  • First Aid at work qualification.

  • Full Clean NSW driving license.

  • Presentation and communication skills fostered through having to deliver prepared and impromptu presentations both individually and as part of a group.

INTERESTS AND ACHIEVEMENTS

I’ve played rugby for the last 10 years within a school, club and university environment. For the seasons of 2010-2011 and 2011-2012 I was elected President of the University of Portsmouth Rugby Club. With over 200 members, competing in the BUCS league with 5 men’s teams and 1 women’s team. This is something I am extremely proud of and has given me a great number of opportunities and experiences that I have learnt from and used to develop my skill set within a business environment. I learnt how to effectively manage communications between team players, becoming proficient with judging team dynamics and different personality types and resolving intra-team conflict as necessary. I learnt how to use balance sheets effectively to manage a budget of £28,000. I improved my time management skills, sharing my time between presidency duties, training and playing rugby, academic studies at university and my part time paid employment. I also learnt to develop my planning and organisational skills through implementing and co-ordinating events such as sponsorship meetings and charity events to raise money for the clubs.

I achieved my Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award in 2008. This took me 3 years to complete and involved me doing many activities including hiking through Snowdonia on a 4-day expedition.

I have been travelling for the last 16 months as said before. In this time I visited 9 countries, throughout Asia and Australasia. I have achieved everything I set out to before setting off on this trip learning a lot about other cultures and myself. My proudest achievements included sky diving, completing a half marathon and swimming with great white sharks.



I have also recently completed my PADI Open Water Diver qualification in which I was required to learn new skills quickly and remain calm under pressure. I thoroughly enjoyed this and plan to do further dives in the future.
