Royal Palm Yacht and Country Club boasts a stellar 53 year history. It was the first planned community development in South Florida. The club is located in South Boca Raton on the Intercoastal Waterway and minutes from the Atlantic Ocean. The community of Royal Palm comprises approximately 450 acres consisting of 229 water lots, 285 golf course lots and 231 interior lots. There are currently 700 homes on 750 lots. The community includes three man-made islands. All of the island waterways connect to the Intracoastal Waterway.

The 531 members consist of the area’s business, civic, and social leaders enjoy the finest in golf, tennis, fitness and marina facilities, fine and casual dining. Approximately 50% of the members are residents of the Royal Palm community and the balance from nearby neighborhoods. The RPYCC is recognized as one of Palm Beach County’s most prestigious private country clubs.

Annual Gross Revenues are projected for 2012 are $11 million.  The current golf initiation fee is $45,000 and annual dues of $14,987. Annual Food and Beverage revenues approach $2,250,000, 60% derived from member la carte dining and 40% from banquets.



Club Facilities include:

  • RPYCC boasts the only Jack Nicklaus Signature Course, in Southeast Florida which was redesigned in 2002.

  • The Yacht Clubhouse located at the Yacht Basin has a variety of dining venues and is the location of the club executive offices.

  • The marina has hook-ups for phone, water and electric to accommodate 70 vessels from 18’ to over 100’.

  • The Club’s Tennis Complex features six lighted Har-Tru soft tennis courts along with a well-appointed sports shop serving tennis, fitness and swimming needs.

  • The Fitness Center is a separate 7,000 square foot facility, includes an Olympic swimming pool overlooking the beautiful Marina yacht basin.

  • The Club’s croquet pavilion overlooks two championship croquet greenswards. In 2005, the United States Croquet Association (USCA) named Royal Palm its Club of the Year.

The General Manager/Chief Operating Officer (GM/COO) has responsibility for the day-to-day operations of Royal Palm Yacht & Country Club (RPYCC). She/he directs and administers all aspects of the operations---the amenities, staff and all programs and activities including each operating entity of golf, tennis, pool fitness, croquet, marina and food/beverage to ensure outstanding service delivery.

The GM/COO is responsible for the creation and implementation of all best service standards and procedures while providing leadership for key managers and staff at the Club. Clearly, a primary objective is for the GM/COO to be the ‘face’ of the Club, and to ensure that goals and objectives are defined, understood, evaluated and implemented on a continuous basis, to meet the expectations of the membership as defined by the Board of Governors in concert with the GM/COO.

The General Manager/COO serves in the capacity of the Chief Operating Officer of Royal Palm Yacht & Country Club and will be the visible and accessible leader to both members and staff alike. The General Manager will have the capacity to consistently guide all club operations while keeping in mind the wishes and desires of the Board of Governors and the membership. The General Manager will act as the coordinator and facilitator between all Department Heads and Committees.

Reporting Structure: The position reports to the Club Commodore and the Board of Governors

Liaison to: all of the club’s Standing Committees and Committee Chairpersons.

Direct Reports include: Chief Financial Officer, Head Golf Professional, Golf Course Superintendent, Director of Dining Services, Executive Chef, Fitness Director, Tennis Director, Social/Catering Director, Maintenance Engineer, and Dock Master

The candidate chosen for this position will possess: a minimum of 10 years as a General Manager, Assistant General Manager or Clubhouse Manager in a comparable private club, or upscale golf resort. Candidates will have a working knowledge of all facets of private club operations with a strong emphasis on Food and Beverage, Financial Management, Strategic Planning and Membership Growth and Retention skills. A Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality or Business Management and the CCM designation is preferred.
