AGADIR (Morocco)
AGA01 – TAROUDANT
Duration: approx. 5 hours
Leave the port and enjoy a 1.5-hour coach drive across the Sous Valley, lined with citrus plantation, to reach the pink city of Taroudant. Often referred as the “Grandmother of Marrakech” as it looks like a smaller Marrakech with its ramparts, Taroudant was briefly used as a capital by the Saadians. Today almost the entire city is located inside its pink earthen walls; a photo stop is scheduled for picture-taking. Next you will enjoy a shopping stop at its colourful souk with some free time at “Place Assarag” – the favourite meeting place for the inhabitants of the city. Enjoy a stop for a refreshing drink before returning to Agadir and to your cruise ship.
AGA02 – MELTING POT OF OLD AND NEW: AGADIR CITY
Duration: approx. 4 hours
Only a short distance from the shifting sands of the Sahara Desert and the imposing Anti-Atlas mountains lies the Moroccan port of Agadir, a city of many contrasts. A chance to soak up the unique old-world atmosphere of the amazing Kasbah, a former stronghold situated at approx. 236 m above mean sea level, begins your tour. On account of two earthquakes – one that shook the city in 1731 and the other in 1960 – the Kasbah is not only one of Agadir’s few surviving historical buildings, but also forms a winning counterpoint to the port’s predominantly modern architecture. As the heart of Agadir’s social life, the bustling city centre is both a vibrant hub of restaurants, shops, bars and cafés as well as home to key sights such as the central post office, the new city hall and the court of law. To round off your exploration of Agadir, you can also look forward to an authentic taste of Berber life in the shape of the “Fantasia” folklore show, along with some delicious mint tea and Moroccan pastries. You will then begin to head back to your ship with fresh memories of special moments shared.
AJACCIO (Corse)
Visitors flock to Corsica, off the south-east coast of France, attracted by the wild beauty of this island. Nature-lovers in particular appreciate the mild, year-round climate ideal for walking tours and outdoor excursions. Corsica’s capital, Ajaccio, is an attractive port town - whilst you are here look out for cigars and fresh pasta; just two of the many gourmet products produced on the island.
