FANTASTIC FOUR: Somerset is 63-12 when they score four runs or more but just 13-34 when they score three runs or fewer.
POSTSEASON BOUND: The Somerset Patriots won the 1st Half Liberty Division Title. It’s the franchises 13th Half Title and first half title win since 2010. In the 2-3 first round format the Patriots have elected to have the back three games at home so they’ll open up on the road starting September 24th.
PITCHING PROBLEMS: The Patriots have allowed their opponents to tally at least 10 hits in 10 straight games
BIG JON: Jon Hunton leads the Atlantic League with 43 saves. That’s 15 more than anyone else. On August 24th he set the Atlantic League single season record for most saves in a year breaking Mike Guilfoyle’s record of 40 that was accomplished in 2003 with Bridgeport.
RECORD SETTING HALF: The 47 win first half sets a franchise record for most wins in a single half. Previous mark was 46 done in 1st half of 2013.
STREAKING: Luis Montanez is in the midst of a 10 game hitting streak
COME BACK KIDS: The Patriots have 36 come from behind victories on the season, 18 wins in their final at bat and seven walk-off wins.
EXTRA EXTRA READ ALL ABOUT IT: The Patriots are 9-1 in extra inning games
GOOD LOOKS: The Patriots are 14-3 when SPN.TV televises the game
LUCKY NUMBER SEVEN: Somerset is 51-3 when leading after seven innings
MLB EXPERIENCE: Seven players on the roster have at one point during their baseball tenure suited up for an MLB team (Edwin Maysonet, Daryle Ward, Matt Maloney, Brian Barden, Daniel Herrera, Luis Montanez, Juan Rincon)
28 RETIRED: On June 14th, Manager Emeritus Sparky Lyle became the 1st ever Patriot to have his number retired. Lyle amassed 1,025 wins as Somerset skipper and won five AL championships. He was the first ever employee of the Somerset Patriots back in 1998.
STRIVE FOR SIX: The Somerset Patriots are the most successful baseball club in Atlantic League history winning League Championships in 2001, 2003, 2005, 2008, 2009. The Patriots look to win that elusive sixth title in program history this year.
