  2. Plot:

    1. Characters:

      2. Ekat=Alistair Oh; Starling triplets (Sinead, Ned, Ted)

      4. Tomas=Holt Family (Eisenhower, Mary-Todd, Hamilton, Madison, Reagan, Arnold the dog)

      5. Lucian=Ian and Natalie Kabra; Russian spy

    2. Setting

      1. Time: Present Day

      2. Place: Attleboro, Massachusetts; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Paris, France

    3. Main Problem: Dan and Amy want to find the treasure Grace describes in her will, but other family members on the clue hunt try to kill Dan and Amy to find the treasure first, so Dan and Amy outsmart them and find the first clue.

    4. Major Events:

      1. Mansion burns down but Amy, Dan, Saladin, and Alistair escape

      2. Nellie takes Amy and Dan to Philadelphia museum and they find another clue

        1. Amy and Dan escape bomb explosion at the museum, but the Starling triplets don’t

      3. Nellie takes Amy and Dan to Paris, France

        1. Sneak in to Lucian secret base

        2. Go to graveyard and almost get buried alive in their own grave

        3. Go through the Maze of Bones in the catacombs

        4. Solve magic box found on skulls and find a vial of green sludge

        5. Escape Natalie and Ian by taking a path through a subway tunnel

        6. Go to church bell tower to “charge” the vial by getting it struck by lightning

        7. Find sheet music

      4. Climax: Ian and Natalie steal the green vial

        1. Dan solve another puzzle on the sheet music

      5. Solution: They decide to go to Vienna, Austria to follow the next clue (sequel)



  1. Summary: The novel, 39 Clues: Maze of Bones, by Rick Riordan describes the adventures of Amy and Dan who want to find the treasure their dead grandmother, Grace, sent them to find in her will. In the beginning, Amy and Dan decide to go on the clue hunt instead of taking on million dollars each. Next, on the clue hunt Amy and Dan narrowly escape a burning mansion, an explosion in the Philadelphia museum, being buried alive in a grave in Paris, and being trapped in a church bell tower during a lightning storm. At the end, Amy and Dan find Benjamin Franklin’s clue about an ingredient, iron solute, in Paris, France, and find the next clue left by Mozart.
