JETS ASSIGN PATRICE CORMIER TO ST. JOHN’S The Winnipeg Jets announce today they have assigned forward Patrice Cormier to their AHL affiliate, the St. John’s IceCaps.
Cormier split time between the Atlanta Thrashers and AHL affiliate Chicago Wolves during the 2010-11 season. The Moncton, NB native played his first NHL game on Dec. 28, 2010, in Pittsburgh and scored his first NHL goal on Jan. 7, 2011, against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Cormier contributed two points (1g, 1a) in 21 games with the Thrashers and played in 11 games with the Wolves, recording five points (2g, 3a). During his junior career, Patrice Cormier wore the captain’s ‘C’ for Team Canada at the 2010 World Junior Championships where he won a silver medal.
Cormier was originally drafted by the New Jersey Devils in the second round, 54th overall, in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
