Various Scholarships valued from $2,000 to $6,000 per year


Besides the Commonwealth Scholarships and numerous access and equity scholarships, there is a range of merit scholarships on offer including Faculty & Residential scholarships. Some merit scholarships include –


  • The North West Local Land Service Scholarship

Valued at $5,000, and open to CSP students who have applied for admission into a Bachelor of Environmental Science, Bachelor of Agriculture, Bachelor of Rural Science, Bachelor of Agribusiness, or a similarly related course. Applicants must attain a minimum ATAR of 86.30, and also demonstrate involvement and leadership in school and community activities, commitment to the proposed course, and provide a statement describing their career aspirations, interpersonal and communications skills, initiative and self-motivation. Besides relocation scholarships and access scholarships, other scholarships on offer are:


  • UNSW CO-OP Program


Set up by industry and the University of New South Wales (UNSW) the Co-op Program provides career development scholarships for high achieving undergraduate students, offering industry training, leadership and professional development, networking opportunities, mentoring and financial support. The scholarships are offered in the fields of Business, Science, Engineering and Built Environment. The UNSW Co-op Program is open to year 12 students entering university for the first time, or those commencing university for the first time after a gap year. Candidates for scholarships are not only selected on their academic ability, but also their communication skills, motivation, leadership potential, and passion for their chosen field of study. Any student expecting an ATAR above 90.00 should consider applying, remaining aware that the indicative ATAR will be closer to 96.00.

What do students gain?

  • They receive structured industrial training (between 9 and 18 months) with three or four different companies during their degree,

  • $18,200 tax free per annum over four years

  • The opportunity to experience the sort of work you might be doing as a graduate in the field and to assess/be assessed by a number of potential employers

  • A Co-op Academic Co-ordinator that can offer advice and support throughout your degree

  • Professional development & leadership training during your degree

  • Opportunities to network with leading employers and make valuable contacts within your industry

  • A social network of friends that can support you through university and last a lifetime

  • Malcolm Chaikin Foundation Scholarships

Valued at $15,000 this scholarship is available to high achieving CSP students who wish to study in the fields of Science, Engineering or Commerce/Science at UNSW. Applicants are expected to achieve an ATAR of 95+, and selection is based on academic merit, interview performance, the reasons for undertaking the course, and personal qualities, including potential to contribute to the wider life of the University. Students must register and login to apply for this scholarship. Applications close 30 September 2015.


  • Scientia Scholarships

These scholarships are awarded to all students who achieve an ATAR of 99.90 or above to undertake full-time study at UNSW. Students receive $10,000 (tax exempt) for the duration of the course. Eligible students will automatically be considered and be contacted by UNSW. Applications close 30 September 2015.



  • Explorer Award

Valued at $10,000 this scholarship is available to high achieving CSP students who are intellectually adventurous and demonstrate significant engagement with critical social issues affecting Australian society and/or impacting upon our position in the region. Students must enrol into a single or dual degree program in the Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences. Applicants will be assessed on their ATAR (expected to be above 90); their leadership at a local, regional or national level; and a demonstrated understanding of key national social issues. Students must register and login to apply for this scholarship. Applications close 30 September 2015.


  • UNSW All-Rounder Scholarship

The UNSW All-Rounder Scholarship, a once-off payment of $5,000, has been established to encourage CSP students who have achieved academically as well is in other facets of their lives (school leadership, involvement in music, sport, debating, drama, dance, etc.) to come to UNSW to contribute to university life Applications close 30 September 2015. Students who attain an ATAR of 95.00 should consider applying.


  • UNSW High Achievers Scholarship

A once-off payment of $5,000 available to high achieving CSP students who have achieved an ATAR result of 99 or above. Applications open in 15 December 2015 and close 31 December 2015.


  • Transition Scholarship

The scholarships have been established to assist students from interstate to undertake study in an undergraduate degree program at UNSW. A payment of $5,000 for one year will be awarded to a CSP student, based on academic merit, demonstrated ability, leadership qualities and potential to contribute to the wider life of the University. As part of the application process applicants will be asked to submit a personal statement detailing the reasons for wishing to study at UNSW. Applications close 30 September 2015.


  • Matthew James Reid Award

The scholarships have been established to assist students from interstate to undertake study in an undergraduate degree program at UNSW. A payment of $2,000 for one year will be awarded to a CSP student undertaking a degree at UNSW, preferably within the within the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. Applications close on 30 September 2015.


Valued at $5,000 annually, this scholarship is established to encourage CSP and international students to undertake undergraduate study (including combined degrees) at UNSW with a Mathematics major or study plan. Students should be considering study in a Bachelor of Science or combined Bachelor of Science program, with a major or study plan in Mathematics. The anticipated ATAR is 98+. Applications close on 30 September 2015.


  • Explorer Award

Valued at $10,000 the Explorer Award was established to recognise outstanding CSP students who are intellectually adventurous and demonstrate significant engagement with critical social issues affecting Australian society and/or impacting upon our position in the region.

The Award is for current Year 12 students enrolling in any single or dual degree program in the Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences. Selection is based on an ATAR of 90+, and demonstrate leadership at local, regional or national level; and demonstrate an understanding of key national social issues. Applications close on 30 September 2015.




  • The Late Stephen Robjohns Science Scholarship 

Valued at $8,000 and on offer to CSP and international students enrolling in one of the following programs at UNSW - Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Science (Advanced Science) or Bachelor of Science (Advanced Mathematics) and with the intention to choose a study plan in either Mathematics & Statistics, Chemistry or Physics from 2nd year of study.


Valued at $200,000, this scholarship is a unique opportunity to complete a four year undergraduate degree at two of the U.S.'s leading academic institutions, Duke University and University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The scholarship is provided to CSP students who have achieved good academic success (ATAR or equivalent of 95.00+) as well as having displayed significant leadership and community involvement in their final years of high school. Scholars interested in this program must be driven and motivated to play a greater role in the world and be one of tomorrow's leaders. The scholarship provides for full tuition fees, accommodation expenses and other costs associated with undertaking a degree abroad and give recipients the opportunity to participate in summer programs. University of Queensland


UQ’s undergraduate scholarship program is one of the largest in Queensland and one of the most generous in Australia. Valued between $6,000 and $12,000.

Some of the academic scholarships include –




  • UQ Vice Chancellor’s Scholarships

Valued at $12,000 per year for up to 5 years, these scholarships will be automatically awarded to CSP and international students who achieve an ATAR of 99.00 and apply through QTAC for a UQ course, and listing it as a first or second preference.  Students must submit an online application to be considered.


  • UQ Excellence Scholarships

Valued at $6,000 per year for up to 4 years, these scholarships will be awarded to CSP and international students who attain an ATAR of 99.00 and who, during their senior years, have demonstrated outstanding extra-curricular academic and/or leadership and/or significant community service achievements. Students must apply through QTAC for a UQ course, and list it as a first or second preference. Students must submit an online application to be considered.


  • UQ Merit Scholarships

Open to all students applying through QTAC for a course. Valued at $6,000 for the first year of study, these scholarships will be awarded to CSP and international students who attain an ATAR of 96.00 – 99.00 and who can also demonstrate outstanding extra-curricular academic and/or leadership and/or significant community service achievements. Students must submit an online application to be considered.
Applicants only need to complete and submit ONE application form to be considered for the three different types of Academic Scholarships listed above.

A very wide range of scholarships with varying values

In many cases students are automatically considered for a scholarship on application for a course. However, where indicated a scholarship application form should still be submitted.   • University of Sydney Chancellors Award

Valued at $10,000 per year, this scholarship is awarded to CSP students who demonstrate an outstanding performance in their Year 12 results, achieving an ATAR of 99.95 or above (or equivalent). There is no need to apply for this scholarship as the University will contact eligible students when the ATARs are released if they meet the eligibility criteria and have listed a preference for The University of Sydney in their UAC application.


  • Sydney Scholars Award

Open to high achieving CSP and international students commencing their studies in 2016, and values range from $6,000 to $10,000 and awarded in duration from one year, up to 5 years (combined degrees). Students need to attain an ATAR of 95+. Applicants must submit an online application form and upload their most recent school report. Applications open in September 2015 and close 30 October 2015.
