GEMINI – THE ANTHROPOLOGICAL TYPE OF THE NORDIDS

Linda Goodman describes the physical appearance of Gemini as follows:

"Unless there's a conflicting ascendant, the Gemini build is generally slender, agile and taller than average. Many of them have small, sharp features, as if they were cut in a cameo. You'll find some with brown eyes, of course, but the majority of those ruled by Mercury will have beautiful, crystal-clear hazel, blue, green or gray eyes that twinkle and dart here and there." (Sun Signs, pg 91).

For the overall appearance of people born under the influence of Mercury (which corresponds to Geminis), astrologer Aleksandar Imširagić says:

"In general, the nose has a sharp, or even a narrow look. The Mercurians have tiny or long, slim and fine-drawn mouth which is sharply-cut, especially in corners. ... The Mercurian hair is very fine and thin and there isn’t much of it. Its color is pale or brownish-gray with a tendency to become bright. ... The skin is very fine, delicate and dry. This type rarely tans successfully." (Aleksandar Imširagić, The Wheel of Fortune, pg 373-374)

The astrological description of Gemini corresponds to the description of the anthropological type of the Nordids:

"Stature is tall and thin. Shoulders are strong and broad, legs are long. Skull is elongated, flat on both sides, the nape of the neck is prominent. Face is elongated, facial features are sharp, jaws are accentuated. Mouth is small and “hard formed”, ears are tiny. Forehead is tight, flat and leaning backward; eyebrows are straight. Nose is narrow and prominent, high at its root. Eyes are light, blue or gray, medium-sized. Skin is fine and pale, with visible veins. Hair is blond or redish, thin, smooth and soft." (Vladimir Dvorniković, Characterology of the Yugoslavs, pg 174)

The parallel between the Gemini type and the Nordids is apparent not only in comparison of their physical attributes, but also in comparison of the psychological ones. Astrologers describe Gemini’s talkativeness and their proneness to sarcastic humor:

"Gemini is talkative and often inconsequential." (Charles E.O. Carter, Encyclopedia of Psychological Astrology, pg 120)

"They use words as much as possible, have a great power of expressing themselves and are skilful in communication of every kind. ... They are very skilled in using words and that become their most powerful self-defense weapon when they show tactlessness and sarcasm. They often do not save words, they abuse them, they babble tirelessly... Sometimes people detest Gemini’s sarcasm and take a defensive stance towards them.” (The Society of Astrologers of Yugoslavia, Meet Astrology and Yourselves, pg 40-41, 43)

Antrophologist Hans Günther writes about Nordic talkativeness and their sense of humor as follows:

"The gift of narrative, with a sense for describing events and landscape and a tendency to roguish humour, is common in the Nordic race." (Hans F. K. Günther, The Racial Elements of European History, pg 52)

Astrologers claim that Gemini is not interested in sensual pleasures:

"They say that Geminis are cold-blooded and that their interest in sex is rather of secondary importance to them." (The Society of Astrologers of Yugoslavia, Meet Astrology and Yourselves, pg 44)

Anthropologists say the same about the Nordids:

"He ... develops a characteristic passion for the real, while passion in the usual meaning of the rousing of the senses or the heightening of the sexual life has little meaning for him." (Hans F. K. Günther, The Racial Elements of European History, pg 51)

Nordids are characterized by selfish and egocentric materialism, instead of sensuality which leads to fleshly pleasures, or pride. We can recognize such character all over the area of their occurrence. Geographical presence of Nordids can be tracked on the basis of their common genetic markers (HLA-A1, B8, HG-R, etc.).

We know Nordids as the original carriers of Indo-European language group such as the Celts, the Illyrians, the Germans, the Balts, the Slavs and the Indo-Iranians who all easily managed to impose their language and government to nations of different origin who were marked by disunity. In fact, people whose pride is not their main characteristic (Nordids, Mongols, Alpide, Semites) can easily dominate over those people who are proud (Dinarids, Mediterranids, etc.), because pride naturally forms tribal relations and mutual feuds (for proud people are oversensitive and inclined to conflicts).

Astrologer Nikola Ogrizović says the following about Gemini’s ability to achieve power of command and rule over other people: "They can do it, in such a way that is neither tyrannous or filled with exaggerated vanity." (Astrology, pg 24) Nordids are characterized by their lack of vanity, and that is why in the astrological literature we read that "Gemini are more interested in what they do than what they wear, so that sometimes they appear to be lax.". Perhaps it seems inexplicable to us to see a German businessman dressed in a yellow shirt with hundreds of tiny black Mickey Mice, but he really does not care what we think about him. The people of Northern Europe, who are mostly of Nordic origin, believe that bragging and accentuating their own values and magnitude is an expression of primitivism and backwardness. Although they are free of pride, the Nordids are selfish. However, their selfishness is not blind and pointless as it is in their genetic brothers Finno-Ugric (stingy Virgo) and Mongols (possessive Cancer), because they are in a great deal characterized by their preserved common sense. That Nordic trait was described by astrologer Charles Carter as follows:

"Gemini, though often selfish, is yet adaptable: Mercury is styled the convertible planet." (An Encyclopedia of Psychological Astrology, pg 22)

Linda Goodman indicates the following Gemini’s characteristic:

"Gemini has little desire to accumulate either money or knowledge. In each case, he prefers to absorb it, sort it, and give it back improved. He's the communicator whose function is to create ever new, original ideas and serve others through the versatility of his quick, brilliant mental processes." (Sun Signs, pg 104)

Anthropologist Hans Günther writes about Nordids:

"In accordance with this picture we may take judgment, truthfulness, and energy to be the qualities which are always found marking out Nordic man. It is by a certain mastering of his own nature that he comes by his power of judgment and keeps it, standing as a free man over against himself, and still more over against the influence of others. He feels a strong urge towards truth and justice, and shows, therefore, a practical attitude, an attitude of weighing, which often makes him look cool and stiff. He is distinguished by a highly developed sense of reality, which, in combination with an energy that may rise to boldness, urges him on to far-reaching undertakings." (Hans F. K. Günther, The Racial Elements of European History, pg 51)

Astrologer Johanna Weinbaum says about Gemini (women):

"Although they are warm and emotional, many find them heartless. It is so because they mostly rely on intelligence, not on emotions." (Johanna Weinbaum, The Secret of Sexual Astrology, pg 18)

Due to their rationality in judging the righteousness of someone’s idea, the Nordid type, more than any other type, pays attention to the sense of the idea itself instead of a person who presents it.

Talking about Gemini, astrologer Johanna Weinbaum proceeds:

"If you have extreme or fanatic religious and political views, you will not get along with Gemini very well. They see everybody's side too clearly. They are liberal and tolerant by nature, and narrow-minded people will not get far with them." (Ibid, pg 18)

The Protestant Reformation, whose call was originally only aimed towards common sense, instead of human feelings and the human need to stick to rules as the end in themselves in order to calm their guilty conscience, was best received exactly in the area where the Nordic anthropological type was a majority. For the Nordic type, it is not easy to accept philosophy and religion which cannot stand the criticism of common sense. To listen to the voice of reason means to be in conflict with human stupidity and any form of superstition. Writing about this attribute of the Nordids, which was also the characteristic of the Medieval Slavs, anthropologist Vladimir Dvorniković pointed out the following when he described the occurence of the Bogomils and their psychology:

"The deepest atavistic traits of the Slavic man are exhibited in bogomilism. ... Firstly, by its genesis, the bogomilism, both as psyche and as religious-social movement, is negativism and reaction. A Bogomil foremost felt: what he could not do and what he would not do. He did not want any form of discipline whose meaning he could not grasp and which was against his deepest inner being." (Vladimir Dvorniković, Characterology of the Yugoslavs, pg 967)

Talking about the anthropological type that corresponds to the Nordids, Vacher de Lapouge says:

"From the state he only asks to respect his work; according to religious choice, he is a protestant, for his independent spirit cannot accommodate church authority.” (Fransoa de Fontet, Le Racisme, pg 69)

Astrologer Linda Goodman describes this Nordic feature as Gemini's feature in the following words:

"As soon as he learns what's being done and how it's being done, he'll want to know why. The answer, "We've always done it this way," will cause his bright eyes to turn to ice cubes that could freeze you at thirty paces. Gemini is not even slightly interested in or impressed with tradition. When he's told something is an old custom, that's reason enough for him to change it. ... He'll seldom be dogmatic either. His opinions are flexible." (Sun Signs, pg 121-122)

NORDIC COMMON SENSE OPPOSED SELF-DECEPTION

In Orthodox religion and Catholicism, one sort of music is listened to and chanted in the church, and another outside of it. While the faithful are in the church, they will listen and chant about gratitude, but outside of it they will revel in popular and folk music, which are, by their thanklessness and moaning, a contrast to the chants of gratitude they listen to in the church. In the Nordic countries of northern Europe there is no such duality. The same spirit which inspired a Protestant to chant spiritual hymns of gratitude while being in the temple also inspired them to chant the same hymns while walking down a road, spending their time in a pub or while being at home with their family. When the Protestant people became spiritual renegades and with the occurrence of popular music, it was not long before it moved from the outside world into the Protestant temples. There is no hypocrisy and self-deception, for is not known to the Nordic common sense.

When Jovan Cvijić described the character of the so-called central type, that is, the population of southeast Serbia and Macedonia, he actually described the character of the Nordic Slavs, who are, according to contemporary genetic findings, most common with Greek Macedonians when it comes to the Balkans:

“Realistic features- this is the most prominent trait of the central type… True representatives of this temperament in the central type are those who do not speak much, but speak peremptorily, they simply startle when you ask them about stories and poems, and in doing so convey that those are all nonsense and trifles, for it is not ‘real labor’, a true interest of man… they less often than the Dinarians care to have the most beautiful and equipped house, to be better dressed than their compatriots, except the fact that every now and then a woman succeeds in imposing her own taste; on the contrary, the rich are often ill-dressed, and sometimes they are even dressed in rags when at home. Little or no appreciation do they show for a beautiful and well-decked horse, and, unlike the Dinarians, they feel no need for a glowing appearance… In addition to these realistic features, this type of people does not possess the rough and cruel avarice wee often see in the East-Balkan type. There is less rudeness in their lives. Contrary to the geographical position, which would define the central type as southern and expansive, throughout their whole mental life they show something reserved and stiff… It is even harder to make out their true emotions. They are good at judging people, their traits and passions; but, while the Dinarians often show their observations, these people do it rarely. It is hard to gain their trust. But their soul can soften and bloom under the influence of the free life they have been longing for for centuries… There is also a distinctive affection within them, warm and moving, but always seeming so confused and naive… They are more gifted for lyric than epic poems. Epic poems are less common in their area than in the Dinarian ones. The people belonging to the central type have a lot of tact and consideration. Rare are the Yugoslav countries where people get less insulted by words and take verbal insults more easily than here. They do not mind other people’s flaws and weaknesses and often tolerate serious moral flaws when the ‘real labor’ is concerned. They know how to conduct themselves: they can restrain their emotions and desires, to change their mind and deliberate on things; overreaction is so rare; they are almost always considerate and careful. That is why in this central type there are not much of those violent, decisive and strong temperaments, those who cannot put up with injustice. This type can be often found in West-Macedonian and Kosovo-Metohija varieties. The people belonging to the central type undoubtedly possess cleverness and easy comprehension. Their senses and spirit are always alert; they are almost always composed. But their intelligence is most often directed towards material regards and personal interest. The people belonging to the central type get easily adapted to a whole variety of social surroundings. This definitely has to do with the realistic features of their soul and quick comprehension of practical matters; also, perhaps there is no resisting force in them which comes from the old popular traditions. They immediately receive any heritage of the material culture and external signs of civilization… They approve of and adopt material, moral and spiritual novelties which make life easier and provide benefits.” (Jovan Cvijić, The Balkan Penninsula and the Yugoslav Countries, pg 78-81)

Regardless of its common sense, the Nordic type is also characterized by the temptation of selfish and egocentric exploitation. Therefore, throughout the history of the West, the blessing of its soberness soon started to transform into the curse of its hedonism. The politics of the Nordic West is becoming all the more exploitative and reckless towards others. However, one might reply: “Is there such a thing as non- exploitative politics?” The reply to this can be found in the politics of the people with a large number of people belonging to the Dinarian anthropological type. Serbian politics is a typical example of the politics which is not exploitative, but implements the policy of pride, spite and destruction to the disadvantage the existential interests of its people. Let us remember the most drastic example, when on 27th March 1941 people yelled: “Better grave, than a slave; Better battle, than to settle!”, among a number of similar examples throughout its history. Zoran Đinđić wisely said:

“The world is a cruel market. Nobody loves anybody. They all love themselves only. But let us love ourselves as much Americans love themselves, and then we will see who is more successful. Now, since we do not like ourselves much, and they do love themselves, they are always more successful. But, are we to blame for not loving ourselves enough, or is there someone else to blame? We are to blame! Let us love ourselves, let us see what our potentials are, let us see who the good people are and put them in good positions, and use our potentials in the best possible way.”

Of course, the concept of true love for ourselves should be distinguished from selfish exploitation whose aim is to obtain emotional and sensual pleasures by sacrificing the real interests of humanity, which naturally implies disregard of others. The contemporary politics of the West is becoming more exploitative and less considerate, as there is less and less of the spirit of New Age Enlightenment, which was described in British History of the Nineteenth Century by the English historian George M. Trevelyan:

“It is right to praise highly the influence of Evangelicalism on our politics, in days when no other even partially enlight ened doctrine could get a hearing. Evangelicalism brought rectitude, unselfishness and humanity into high places, and into the appeal to public opinion.“ (George Macaulay Trevelyan, British History of the Nineteenth Century, pg 54)

However, by trying to adapt to the modern age hedonism, Protestantism soon experienced transformation: towards religious formalism (which made it close to traditional Catholicism), and lately also towards sentimental fanaticism (which made it close to the religions of the East). The temptation of religious formalism is a temptation typical of the psychological type of Virgo, whereas the temptation of sentimental fanaticism, which occurs as a false reformation of religious formalism, is typical of the psychological type of Cancer. As a reaction to the perversion of Protestantism, the Nordic common sense rather chooses atheism than a belief in formal religiousness or Christ swaying in the rhythm of rock music, advocating the belief that he canceled God’s Ten Commandments by sacrificing Himself on the Golgotha cross.

In the history of civilization, as well as an individual’s life, there is no stagnation. If temptations of life do not make us better, they will certainly make us worse. If we do not use the blessings of life in order to help others, then their use will be our own source of doom. If those blessings do not fulfill us with feelings of gratitude and unselfishness, they will fulfill us with greediness and stinginess. If we do not defeat temptations at the very moment they emerge, they will defeat us. One who does not fight temptations with all their heart, will end up becoming their prey. However, our destiny is in our hands.
