3.4 Representing different ways of life as a problem: The life of the people in the study area very often becoming a subject of presentation and misrepresentation. Historically, the ways of life of the people living in the Indian subcontinent is very much relied in its tradition and scholars from the western world assert dissimilarities in that of the life of western world. Even classical Marxism has failed to theorize the ways of life of the people of this region. It is colonialism which started to demolish the own ways of life the people of this region. The major weapon of the colonizer was the intellectual efforts to persuade their own interests. They presented the life of the people in such a way that the people by themselves submitted their ways of life and other matters to the hand of the colonizer. These efforts made by colonizers were termed in different name, such as welfare and sometimes development. However, the mainstream development paradigm is a post-colonial product but this has been injected so much deeply that it can be asserts that development is the colonization of anti-colonialism. Either colonizer or develop mentalists, both of them think from a particular civilization, western point of view. They saw everything from their point of view and tried to manipulate their thinking for directing the non-western society to the roads that they are crossing. Thus, the way of life and any other aspects of living that is different considered by them as a problem. They think that industrialization and urbanization and modernization are the only road to development. We imagine pre-industrial societies as exotics trapped in lyrical past, or as charming anachronisms embarking on the inevitable course toward modernity. What few of us realize is that pre-industrial society's people have not tried to be like us, but have actually chosen to live differently (David Mayburry Lewis in the environment in anthropology, pp-390). In the study area, it is found that people used to manage their livelihood from fishing and cattle ranching mostly. They had a collective solidarity in their living and remained cheerful. Since, development is a western product and considers everything from material, monetary and profitable point of view. They find the life of the people in that area as problematic. Furthermore, develop mentalists thought that urbanization and industrialization is the only way to development and this is possible foe all societies, thus, they find anything those are different from their route as problematic. Hence, the simplistic ways of life where people don’t hanker after money, don’t eager to savings keeping his brother hungry, don’t willing to accumulate money destroying the nature and don’t keep himself alienated in the fear of expenditure of joint family, fall down within the vicious circle of problem.
