4.2 Establishing Road and infrastructure: with the deployment of the well, the infrastructural scenario of the area has also significantly changed over the time. The initial gas extraction was launched at the Kasba gas field but when it was invented that the storage of gas is much more larger than the previous experiment, then it was not confined within the Kasba well rather the company has also established two further well, one in karimpur and another is in Koiakhoir. In total, there are 3 pads have been established with their supplementary infrastructure and with an addition establishment of Bangladesh Petrobangla corporation which is responsible for regulating and surveiling the gas extraction. All the extracted gas initially remain in the respective well, but for further purifying process, all these extracted gas is stored in the largest oil, in the well located at Karimpur. All the wells are connected via deploying a heavy metalic pipe through the field. Furthermore, there is a well established road has been built connecting these three well, from Kosba to Karimpur and from Karimpur to Koiakhoir. The height and width of these roads is much larger than the ordinary road structure. However, all the established roads is used only for transporting the gas from one well to another. Except these connected roads, additional establishment has been built for distributing the gas across the country. How much ill fated the people living around the gas field that road are deployed for distributing the gas, but the local people are not getting this! What is more, for easing the transportation, there has been established a number of infrastructural development through the midst of the grazing land and swamp. 4.3 Modernizing the agriculture: historically the study area is a migration tended zone. They have a deep connection with UK's labor market. The people, who have migrated from this region, are somehow managed to occupy a standard status in their territory. Most of the land of this area is occupied by the migrants. The people, who have migrated to different parts of the globe, are not involved in the agricultural production. Their land was distributed among their closest neighbors with a least share. Most of the land of the study area is cropped on the basis of share cropping. These shares are not so much high compared to other types of sharing. According to the respondents, these shares are not the actual rather this is another name of helping to the landless poor by their neighboring landowners. The landless people who don’t have land for cropping or any other arrangement for collecting their subsistence was pretty much happy (according to the respondents, these were affluent or such arrangement through which people can manage their livelihood) with this. They used spade, ox and cows for the ploughing of their land, they used to seed their crops by own hand with inviting other neighboring farmers. Eventually, they used to cut down the harvest by themselves again with the help of relatives. Then, in a fine morning, they used to arrange a gathering with inviting all the people who were involved in the different parts of the production process and enjoyed very much. This was the remuneration of their help in the production process. They measured the remuneration with feelings not with money or any kinds of material. There was a peaceful scenario among the people on t he basis of mutual respects and cooperativeness. Elder people played their role as a reservoir of knowledge through predicting the meteorological aspects and worked as a guide to the young farmer. It is not true that there was not any kind of quarrelsome situation, but the fact that the quarrelsome condition could not exists longer. Elder people tried their best to mitigate this problem as soon as possible. With the inauguration of the gas field in the study area, Most of the land, previously occupied by the landless poor, went into the ownership of the oil company against paying and sometimes with not paying the price of the land to the owner who stay in abroad. So, now the condition appears very much calculable. Since the amount of land for cropping has been snatched, the production per land has to be increased. Develop mentalists and gas extraction companies started to produce the knowledge that this kind of production system is archaic and if the people want to be developed, they have to modernize the agricultural system. So, how the production system can be modernized? Develop mentalists postulated that these seed is not productive, the only productive seed are those which has been prepared on the basis of institutional knowledge and stored in the store. So, farmers have to buy seed from the store in order to get a greater harvest. Then, the ploughing system is also confronts intellectual attack as ancient. The solution against this cow-based ploughing system replaced by the ploughing by tafe tractor and the use of advanced technology. What is more, the progress of the crops has to be observed frequently and have to consult with an institutional knowledge based experts for seeking solution. In addition, the use of pesticides and fertilizer began to be proliferated for getting the harvest as quick as possible. Then, in the harvesting period, there is also initiated modern technology for cutting down the crops and there is also another kind of machine for flicking the crops. Download 1.22 Mb.
