Offering loans and Vocational training: Since Chevron has taken the responsibility for developing the standard of living of the people living around the gas field. The major aspect of development considered by Chevron is the financial condition of the people. It has become a truism that western world measure development from a materialistic point of view. In order to develop the people, the next step, first one was establishing VDO, taken by Chevron is reaching money in the hand of the people. Chevron has initiated a loan scheme under the supervision of VDO. If anyone wants to get loan, has to be a member of the village development organization. A person who intend to get loan, has to fill up a form and with the recommendation of president, the forms has to be sent to the authority. Then if everything ok, loan issued in the name of this person. Very often, respondents accuse that the acceptance or rejection of loan application depends on the networking and liaison with the positioned person of the organization. Respondents assert that the criterion for accepting the application of loan is not the need or necessity of the person, rather the liaison or relation with the authority. After getting loan, one has to repay the money in the forms of weekly installments. Again, here is problem. Person who has a powerful position within the organization, is free to repay the money because nobody can claim this repayment. On the contrary, person from lower strata or dominated classes has to be accountable if any installations get missed. Hence, it is found that there are a plenty of money has reached in the pocket of dominant people. However, besides providing loan, village development organization has an arrangement for training their member. The general forms of trainings are, sewing, basic computer training electric training etc. The selection process of the trainee, fall down within the vicious circle of nepotism. Who will be selected as apprentice, is subjected to rely on the liaison. What is more, sometimes people have to provide brave for getting loan. What is more, safety is regarded as one of the major concern. Chevron tries to ensure the safety of the laborers and their customers. They train up their employees regarding safety matters and teach them how to use tools during working. Beside this, the teaching also provided to the workers that how in a state of emergency, worker can minimize hamper. With giving training for working in the workplace, other safety issues for daily life also get taught.
