Donation on road construction: Chevrons’ announcement for development of the area has raised a sense of anxiety among the conscious minded people. Chevron is trying to publicize the community engagement with its every effort. Beside other initiatives, Chevron has taken several public welfare based programs. Among these, funding for the construction of roads is major one. This study found a dichotomous scenario in the research area. According to the local people who possess a high profile and has well relation with Chevron, all the roads constructed in the area are more or less funded by the US energy company but the people who is indifferent regarding these matters assert that although Chevron funds for the road construction but the money doesn’t get the opportunity to be spent on the road. Money enters to the pocket of the elites before come into the road. Moreover, Chevron has directed many public awareness programs, such as road safety campaign. In the transport crowded area, like Bander bazaar and in the place where two or more road has connected, billboards are singing the song of Chevron. These billboards are exhibiting the slogan “Drive slowly, reach safely” and so on. Basically, these roads are brick built in which Chevron funds. But during fieldwork, the condition of roads illustrates their picture in such a way that many years ago someone has built this. whatsoever, Chevron also contributing in the changing of life of the people through providing houses to the houseless people.
Public welfare: The abovementioned contributions of Chevron in the field of community development were different than that of present section’s inintiative. In this section of paper, the donation made by Chevron without return, is being presented. In this category, awareness campaign is the most pivotal. People living around the gas field adjacent villages, has been fallen somehow in a state of cultural alienation. To more amplification, the traditional forms of cultural adaptation have been removed from the living of the people. In the newly emerged forms of cultural practices, people find themselves negligible. The scenario of the are has radically been changed due to the emergence of a middle class people with keeping alliances with the global economy. Road has been constructed, the flow of industrialization blows upon the area and a formal relationship has been emerged. People of this area, culturally are not accustomed with this. In this regard, Chevron has been arranged several kinds of public awareness campaign for equipping the people with the newly created circumstances. Road safety related issues have been prioritized by Chevron as a subject of public campaign. In different walls and near markets as well as beside roads, numerous festoon and boards are hanging with proclaiming different safety concern. Some billboards are exhibiting directive while others boards are instructive. Along with road safety concern, public campaign also has directed by Chevron in the issue of health matters. Most of the health related campaigns are directive in nature where these campaigns illustrating for doing appropriate task and avoiding injurious task. These issues cover illustrating the reason of fatal diseases and how people can retain them, from the affliction. Different types of philanthropic task also have been performed by Chevron. For instance, Chevron has built two houses for houseless people.
