Specific objectives: The proposed study has specified the following objectives.
To understand the process through which the notion of underdevelopment has been created in the study area.
To enunciate different projects and initiatives for developing the study area.
To understand the expected progress and the real scenario of people’s living condition in the surrounding area of Bibiyana Gas Field.
To understand the process through which Chevron is trying to make their functions
legitimate.
1.4 Research Methods
Research method provides researcher with the basic strategies and guideline for the research. The term research is the composition of two terms. One is “Re” and another is “Search”.
The term “Re” stands for referring again and “Search” stands for finding or searching with deep attention in a systematic way. So, the meaning of research can be illustrated as the systematic searching for something again. This searching may be directed towards digging up already checked information or the sector which yet never has been checked. Whatsoever, since research refers to a systematic search for a particular or a set of particular information, there are obviously different ways of searching the information. Literally, these ways of searching or digging up for information, known as method. Then, research method can be defined as the scientific and systematic way of collecting data for answering research question. Proper application of the research methods can increase the quality of the research paper. There are different types of research has so far been employed by social scientists. Type and design of a particular research depends on the research questions and objectives of this particular research. On the basis of nature of data and aim of research, typology of research design and selection of methods are greatly influenced. First of all, this target of this research is to deal with people and community, thus, this a social science research. Then, the aim of this research is to explain the social engineering efforts initiated by the social elites and develop-mentalists. Thus, this is an explanatory research. The nature of data for this research has been gathered in the forms of verbal expression, attitudes, notion and perception of the people. Hence, this research is qualitative in nature. That is why study will require both primary and secondary data collected from various people of study areas.
