John Williamson McGAVOCK, III, age 66, of Gulfport, Miss., and former resident of Staunton, Va., died Thursday, January 27, 1977. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Ethel Louise BARGER McGAVOCK; six sons, John W. McGAVOCK, Elizabethtown, N.C,-, James B. McGAVOCK, Robertson C. McGAVOCK, both of Staunton; Edwin H. McGAVOCK, Tacoma, Wash., Albert K. McGAVOCK, with the U.S. Navy in Guam; Donald F. McGAVOCK Arlington; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Joan Culp CLARK, Tunica, La.; a brother, James H. McGAVOCK,II, Thaxton, also fourteen grandchildren. The body will be taken to Staunton and a service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, in the Hebron Presbyterian Church, conducted by the Rev. Robert D. Goshorn. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Henry Funeral Home Staunton Saturday evening from 8-9 p.m.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Daisy Goins McGuire; one son, Elbert McGuire, Panther, W.Va; one step-son, Eugene R. Duncan, Dover, Del.; two step-daughters, Mrs. Bennie I. Hayes, Dosia City, La., and Mrs. M. W. Walters, Route 2, Dublin.

Dr. W. P. McKEE, father of W. C. McKEE, a former resident of Pulaski, died Sunday at his late home at Eutis, Fla., aged 80. He had been ill since early February from the infirmities of age. He had been an active member of the Presbyterian church for 50 years. Burial took place Wednesday at London, Ky., Mr. McKEE going from his Chicago home to attend. Funeral Services For Dr. Wm McKEE At Florida Home
Not only Eutis, but the entire surrounding section, is sorrowing this afternoon while the last sad rites are being conducted at the Presbyterian church for Dr. W. P. McKEE, beloved pioneer resident and physician, who passed to his reward Saturday, after a short illness. His remains are being laid in their last resting place in Greenwood cemetery, with the highest honors, bestowed by the Masonic order, of which he was a lifetime member. All business in the city was suspended during the hour of service.
Dr. McKEE was a native of Kentucky, having been born in Mount Vernon in that sate 80 years ago. He came to Florida in 1884, locating first at Pittman, and moving to Eutis in 1896, where he lived until his death, practicing his profession until illness forced him to retire a short time ago.
A man of kindly, loving character, he numbered his friends by his acquaintance, and great as was his skill in healing bodily ills it was ability in bringing spiritual and mental comfort to those who were in distress.
Throughout his lifetime, Dr. McKEE, was active in the religious and civic life of the community, a consistent Christian and member of the Presbyterian church, which he served as an Elder for 44 years. He was a thirty-third degree Mason, having attained the highest honors possible in that great fraternal body, in 1923. he was an honorary member of the Royal Order of Scotland, being one of about 600 who have attained that distinction, and one of the 400 honorary members of the Royal Order of Constantaine.
Dr. McKEE’s death, which occurred early Saturday morning, was the result of a complete breakdown of his system, that occurred only a few weeks ago, and while not enterely unexpected, came as a shock to the entire community. Funeral services were held in the Presbyterian church at two o’clock, this afternoon, in the presence of a large throng of sorrowing friends. Many beautiful floral offerings testified to the love and esteem in which he was held. The services at the church were conducted by his pastor, Rev. S. H. Moore.
Following the church services the sad procession wended (sp) its way to Greenwood cemetery, where the last rites were conducted by the Masonic lodges of the Golden Triangle, assisted by several prominent members from other sections of the state.
Besides his widow, Dr. McKEE is survived by one sone, William McKEE of Chicago, and a grand-daughter living in Kentucky. Two sons and a daughter preceded him to the Great Beyond.
Eustis promises today to be the most talked of Masonic city in the country as the unique circumstances attending the funeral of Dr. W. P. McKEE, become nationally known. Within the memory of no local Mason can it be recalled that eight Masonic pallbearers, each of the 33rd degree attended a former 33rd degree Mason. — Eustis, Fla., "Lake Region."

McKENZIE, L. CATHERINE, 92, of Christiansburg, passed away Monday, July 21, 2003. Catherine was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was active in the Cambria Baptist Church where she sang in the choir, and was always ready to help with food and serving whenever the opportunity arose. She was a member of the Christiansburg Recreation Commission, a senior leader in the Recreation Center, Past Regent of the Colonel William Christian Chapter, DAR, and a member of the Police Department Triad program, Catherine performed locally as a Seniorette cheerleader. She competed in the Regional, State and National Senior Olympics and won numerous gold, silver and bronze medals the last twenty years of her life. Catherine was a world traveler. She traveled from Alaska to Israel, and from New York to Florida, California to Texas and Ohio to Louisiana. She really loved flying and thought nothing of going to the airport with a stand-by ticket. Her motto has always been "You don't stop playing because you grow old, you grow old because you stop playing." Catherine loved life and was an inspiration to all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Modoc McKenzie; her parents, Walter J. and Emma K. Mandeville; brothers, Paul Mandeville, Horace Mandeville, Charles Mandeville; and sister, Frances Harvey. Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Joe and Winkie McKenzie of Lebanon, Ohio, Ben and Chris McKenzie of Montgomery, Texas; grandchildren, Jeff McKenzie, Debbie Pitts, Jennifer Whitestone, all of Ohio, Kim Westmoreland and Jim McKenzie of Texas; great-grandchildren, Joseph McKenzie, Jennifer McKenzie, Sarah Whitestone, Billy Whitestone, Hope Whitestone, Evan Pitts, Samantha Pitts, Noah Pitts, Kyle Westmoreland, Tara Westmoreland, Scott McKenzie, Mark McKenzie; sisters, Phyllis Burcham of Hillsville, Sylvia Beckett of Princeton, W.Va.; sisters-in-law, Peg Mandeville, Glenna McKenzie, Libby Tabor, Maxine Scott, Emily Ruth Hale; brothers-in-law, Stanley Harvey, Leonard Beckett; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 25, 2003 at the Cambria Baptist Church with Rev. David Burgess officiating with a private family interment to follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday at the Church. Ted Ray McMillan, 56, of Virginia Court, Pulaski died Friday morning, June 13, 2003 at his home. He was born in Pulaski on August 13, 1946 and was the son of the late Harley Otis McMillan. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Bruce McMillan and Clyde “Wink” McMillan and by a father-in-law, James Turpin. Surviving are: his wife, Betty McMillan, Pulaski; mother, Retta Jones McMillan, Pulaski; sister and brother-in-law, Dr. Barbara and Bill Chrisley, Dublin; brothers and sisters-in-law, Denver and Bettie McMillan, Pulaski, Norman and Sue McMillan, Lexington, Ky.; mother-in-law, Cora Lee Turpin, Pulaski; two dogs, Scotter and Squirt; several nieces and nephews. Funeral service was held Monday at 10 a.m. from Stevens Funeral Chapel with Rev. Dan Lawson officiating. Burial followed in Newbern Cemetery, Pulaski County. 2001. Mrs. Meadows was born in Giles County on March 17, 1907 and was a
daughter of the late Charlie and Lucy Raynes Chandler. Mrs. Meadows was the
widow of Earl F. Meadows, Sr. Besides her parents and husband, she was
preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce M. Altizer. She was a member of the
First Baptist Church of Narrows, Va. She is survived by two sons and
daughters-in-law, Tony and Linda Meadows of Pearisburg, Bo and Melissa
Meadows of Palatka, Florida; four daughters and sons-in-law, Fay M. Smith of
Pearisburg, Judy M. Dixon of Pearisburg, Shirley and Leonard McDaniel of
Narrows, Caroline and Charles Hamill of Inwood, West Virginia; one sister,
Verna Parcell of Rich Creek; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Givens Funeral Chapel, Pearisburg, Va. with the Rev. Tom Rice officiating

MEREDITH, Ezma Rudisill, 87, of 618 Stuart Avenue Pulaski, died Saturday evening March 29, 2003 in Pulaski Community Hospital. Born May 3, 1915 in Pulaski, she was the daughter of the late Sue Price Rudisill and Elbert Rudisill. She had been employed by the Green Thumb for seven years and a guide for the Raymond Ratcliffe Museum at the Train Station. She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis James Meredith, Sr., a brother Basil Rudisill, and a son Richard "Dickie" Douglas Meredith. She is survived by two sons, Curtis J. "Sonny" Meredith, Jr. and his wife, Ann of Yorktown, Va., and Roswell D. "Roz" Meredith and his wife, Connie of Pulaski; four grandchildren, Curtis J. "Jay" Meredith, III of Orlando, Fla., Cynthia Routt of Yorktown, Va., Lydia Dodson of Knoxville, Tenn., and Rosalin Meredith of Pulaski. Graveside funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Oakwood Cemetery with the Rev. Judy Yonce officiating. Visiting will be anytime Monday after 2 p.m. at Thomas M. He was preceded in death by his companion, Thelma Meredith; brothers, Richard, John M., Edward, Charles, and Jim Bill; and sisters, Nancy Huffman and Ola Evans. Surviving are a son, Ricky Meredith of Roanoke; sisters, Gladys Harvey Rock of Newport, Geraldine Williams of Newport, and Gay Martin of Pembroke; brothers, Robert Meredith of Pembroke and Cedric Meredith of Christiansburg. She was preceded in death by her father, Ernest J. Goodwin, and is survived by her husband, Guy Meredith of Wytheville; one daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and Richard Copenhaver of Wytheville; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Jeff and Lisa Meredith of Wytheville and Wayne Meredith of Wytheville; her mother, Ada Umberger Goodwin of Wytheville; one sister and brother-in-law, Neta and Jim Gray of Onley, Md.; one brother and sister-in-law, Lawrence and June Goodwin of Salem; two grandchildren, Aaron Copenhaver, and Nicholas Meredith, both of Wytheville; and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Grubb Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Pastor Steve Ridenhour and the Rev. Doug Stuart with the interment in the West End Cemetery. MEYERS, Gilbert Franklin, 87, of 62 Workshop Road, Martinsville, Va., died Sunday, January 28, 2001 at Memorial Hospital Martinsville & Henry County. He was born July 20, 1913 in Pulaski County, Va. to the late Frank Lawrence Meyers and Mary Brown Meyers, and was also preceded in death by a brother, Lawrence Meyers. Mr. Meyers was retired with 38 years service from the Virginia Department of Transportation as Maintenance and Equipment Supervisor. He was a World War II veteran of the 181ST Division Air Force Unit. He was a member of Villa Heights Baptist Church as a Deacon, a former Sunday school class secretary, and former chairman of the property committee. He is survived by his wife, Ocie Ratcliffe Meyers of the home; one daughter, Alda Draper and husband Bobby of Martinsville, Va.; two brothers, Carl Rudolph Meyers of Pulaski, and David Ralph Meyers of Newbern; one grandson, Kyle Truman Draper; one great-granddaughter, Kasey Draper. Funeral services will be conducted at Villa Heights Baptist Church at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 31, 2001 with the Rev. Keith Spangenberg and Bobby Draper officiating. Interment service will be held at 3 p.m. in the Westview Cemetery, Radford. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 30, 2001 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Norris Funeral Services and other times at the residence. MICKALONIS, Annett Christine, passed away on Monday, November 6, 2000 in Radford, Va.; beloved wife of George David Mickalonis and daughter of Gerhard and Irmgard Keller of Erlangen, Germany. Originally from Erlanger, Germany, Mrs. Mickalonis was a former resident of Laurel, Md. and recently located to Radford, Va.
