There Is. - 2014-10-04 08:32

44 “No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them, and I will raise them up at the last day. 45 It is written in the Prophets: ‘They will all be taught by God.'  Everyone who has heard the Father and learned from him comes to me. 46 No one has seen the Father except the one who is from God; only he has seen the Father. 47 Very truly I tell you, the one who believes has eternal life." (John:6)

The hope of eternity.

The hope of today.
Hope in the darkness.
Hope under blazing sun.

Who can say he knows:

What to do or think?
Which direction should we go?
What words should we use?
Where should we stand, and when?

Man guesses.

Perhaps he is right.
Perhaps he is wrong.
How can he know for sure?

Some say it can't be done.

Some believe there is no 'Way".
Some believe that knowing
Is like pointing in the dark, to day.

There is a way to know.

There is a thing to say.
There is a place to be.
There is a place to go.

Go back and get your childhood.

Stop believing like a man.
Remember what you used to know.
The child would hold his hand.

39 "You study the Scriptures diligently because you think that in them you have eternal life. These are the very Scriptures that testify about me, 40 yet you refuse to come to me to have life." (John: 5)

How Comes Failure? - 2014-10-06 09:56

The Lord came to me, in the Promise to all men: "I will be with you, teaching you what is right and good to do and be".  And so I grew in His Holy wisdom.

Misunderstanding dressed me, as He offered His pledge.   "He has made me a righteous man; by knowledge, He has lifted me from sin to righteous doings."  But days passed.  Years came and went.  Though knowledge came, I found sin and folly were bound up in me still.

Perplexity confronted me.  In my days and nights I pondered.  "How can I know these things, yet do the abhorrent?  Where is the fruit of purity?  Where are the things, among my belongings, that pleased Him so in His Holy Son?"

Desire to become, rages within me.  Yet I find mistakes.  Where I expected to find clarity of truth, I found only sparadic (as if by mistake) "good works".  How can such desire, diligent desire, produce such shoddy a crop?

How could it be, that I should set my hands upon a sturdy and well honed plow, hitch it to such a strong and well trained work horse, set my eyes on the singular oak at the end of my field, yet plow such a crooked line?

And if I had reached into my bag of seeds, placed each one by careful measure, covered them with tender fingers.  Why does my field produce bitter and wicked fruit?

Wisdom brings the answer, two fold.

I had not emptied my bag of seeds; that only good seed might remain.  My balance is not perfected.  Knowledge, within me, lacks a studious audience.  And my expectations are those of a child who puts his tiny feet into his daddy's giant shoes: "I see him walk well in these.  I will also use them to do the same".

And wisdom speaks from far beyond the ability of man: "Unless the Lord builds the house, the builder builds in vain".

"Be patient, my frail and tiny child.  I hold your promise in my Holy hand.  When I call you to be an eternal man, you will have your desire in full."

The Perfection of Holy Forgiveness - 2014-10-08 17:37

It's amazing how some things dawn on us ever so slowly.  We think we understand but we do not know as we should. Many people would call humans rather intelligent.  I am forced to think otherwise.

The comparison men use to grade themselves on intelligence, is born in the sea of men (the sum of which could be compared to a jellyfish).  But compare our intelligence to the Most High God and His holy son Jesus, and we fall so far short we are not even worthy of mention in his righteous court.

We all make mistakes on a daily basis.  Many of those mistakes can be referred to as sin; for we knew better but chose that way anyhow.  Can God forgive our sins?  The answer is "absolutely".

It just dawned on me today how that can be so.  Duh.

The Lord has allowed me to be with and love an absolutely wonderful woman.  She knows my faults but chooses to overlook them.  She is full of discretion and does not speak of them to others.  She makes no excuse for me, but she buffers me against what could be an enemy.

If she is such a wonderous human being and yet falls so far short on the intelligence level, (As do we all.)   How much greater and more discreet is the sweet love of the Son of God?

Certainly something to ponder when doubt overshadows our forehead.

The Way HOME - 2014-10-09 15:05

Open, wanton, sick and twisted;

Is the box of flesh your soul resides in.

Closed, Holy, Life and straight;

Is the path of life we're given from Him.

Say you are able to find the way Home,

And your tongue will make you a liar.

The only way Home to a wayward soul,

Is consumed by The Holy Fire.

How can the flesh endure His great thrashing?

What strength does it have to remain?

The soul either emulates all that is passing,

Or submits itself to be tamed.

Testimony, Forgotten - 2014-10-09 15:21

There you are, my long lost friend!  I thought perhaps you'd gone.  Your Father has shown in the noonday light, so too his beautiful Son.

But you've hidden yourself, as if embarrassed.  A speck in the great sea of men.  Through darkness I looked and could not find, your shining example within.

But here through my windows I see you arise.  And a hope springs afresh with great joy.  Teach me by doing, and lighten my path.  Let me see His great works, o'holy envoy.

Christianity is a Promise - 2014-10-10 10:13

Christianity is counted as a religion.  Even many who call themselves Christians treat it as such.  But Christianity is no religion of man at all.  Please give me liberty to explain.

There are three tribes of men before the Holy Lord's eyes.  Those who uphold the law of Moses.  Those who depend on the law of Moses, as if beggars .  And those who have never known the law of Moses.

The first live by that law, and are guardians until the end of this place.  The second, hope toward that law.  For they suffer greatly without its benefit.  The third make their own law according to the shadow of the laws of Moses.

The first are the Jews.  The second are the Samaritans.  And the third are the Gentiles.

(In this I speak to those who do not know.  What I have said can be considered full of fault by the scholars of the Bible.  But let it be and watch how it develops.)

I am a Gentile.  Until I was in my thirties I had not desired of the law of Moses.  I heard of the Ten Commandments but did not care, for I did not know their source.  I heard rumors of some things the law commands, but paid no attention, for they were laws given to "holy men".  I was not holy and so I did not care.

Then Christianity came to me, and I understood the sacrifice of Christ.  Like a child, I accepted by faith that what he said was true.  But unto this day, I have lacked the understanding in full.  And until I die and appear before him, my understanding will be but a shadow of truth.

But I woke from a dream this morning.  And with my waking, a greater understanding has come.  Christianity is not a religion.  Christianity is an engagement.  Christianity is a promise from the Holy Lord.  An honourable promise of marriage from he who is fully honorable.

In the dream I saw two men and a woman.  The first had come to her house but did not belong there by reason of broken promise.  In the past he had been her husband.  But divorce had separated them.

The second had promised to be her husband, after she became divorced.  And with consistant servitude he loved her.

The first came bearing a gift she desired.  He offered it to her in front of the second man.  The second man heard and saw clearly.

The first one held out the gift and said, "I am your husband so I give you these things".  Her hands reached out to receive.

Knowing he could not say the same, the second one prepared to leave.  Tossing his cell phone to the first man, he said, "This belongs to her you will need it".  And the last of the dream was when he opened the door of his car to leave.

After that I woke, and understanding came faster than my eyes could open.  The compassion of God is a promise that cannot be broken.  But the will of man determines his response to the promise of God.  Will he hold to what is?  Or will he return to where he came?  Will he love the one who loves him?  Or will he love the promise of the one who has abused him?

It is as if a great and rich man lived in a high mountain land.  He looked to the valley below and saw the plight of many young women; how they were mistreated and sold as if property.

In the passion of his great heart, he took mercy as his guide.  He carved out a place in his vast mountainous property.  And as his workers planted wonderous trees and vegetation.  Making long beautiful meadows, with glimmering lakes and houses, he went down himself to select his brides.

He is an honorable man and his promise can be believed.  He gave rings to all who asked; rings as a seal of his promise.  Those who received would later be called to inhabit the place he is making.

Some of the women separated themselves in waiting for his promise.  But many held the promise as if from their fellow citizens.  To them the promise was less than honorable.  So they gave themselves to the men of the land; keeping themselves in abusive relationships, mindless of the promise given.

But his promise is true and faultless.  And when the time came to gather his brides, he sent out his servants to bring them.  All of them were dressed according to his honourable promise.  All of them were prepared for the wedding.  He had prepared a place for every one of them to live.

Those who had separated themselves for the sake of his honor were kept in high esteem.  But those who did not believe were given a lower place.  Nevertheless his honor is true.  As he has promised he will do.

Religion is of man.  It is his way of serving his version of God.  His belief dictates his religion.  Religion becomes a doing of a man's understanding of God.  But the religion from God (what He does) is honorable and pure.  It is he who has extended his own desire.

Men will do as they do.  But God is.  We worship as if blind men.  But God sees with perfect eyes.  In our religions we lie, for understanding within us is but a shadow of truth.  But the religion of God is faultless and pure.  The intent of God to save is Holy honorable.

Christianity is not a religion of man.  Christianity is a promise from He who cannot lie.

P.S. I have written this because of the dream.  If people will understand it, then they will understand it.  If they do not understand, or even contend with me on some issues, what is that to me?

What you see here is not an attempt to teach.  It is an altar representing a gift from my God.  I have marked a place according to his command for me.  "Write and do not care who reads."

May God receive glory according to his great riches in righteousness.

Why Lose? - 2014-10-11 18:10

If you think God is a series of do's and don'ts, you don't know him.  If you think obeying the Ten Commandments will make you a friend of God, you don't know the gospel.  If you believe all the social hype about religion, you are blinded by a lie.

Rather than explain those three statements, I'll just ask you to read the New Testament.  If you're still confused, read it again.  And if you still don't get it, read it one more time.

The point is confusion isn't necessary.  Keep reading it until you understand.  Because if you don't understand, you'll die.

News Flash! - 2014-10-11 19:17

You've heard what the world calls news.  Have you heard what God calls news?

1 "But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. 2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4 treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people." (2 Timothy )

3 "Above all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires. 4 They will say, “Where is this ‘coming’ he promised? Ever since our ancestors died, everything goes on as it has since the beginning of creation.” 5 But they deliberately forget that long ago by God’s word the heavens came into being and the earth was formed out of water and by water. 6 By these waters also the world of that time was deluged and destroyed. 7 By the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly.

8 But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. 9 The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

10 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything done in it will be laid bare." (2 Peter 3)

The Lord in His wisdom created the fly.

And then in his wisdom,
made us to wonder why.

It's Nearly Time - 2014-10-13 00:12

When man least expects it, God will send His Son to collect His people.  What will the world look like when man least expects a visit from the Holy Lord Jesus?

Across the whole world, all men will be distracted by the things of this world.  All but a very few will be watching and waiting.

Television, Internet, entertainment of various kinds, working for money, drunkenness, sexual immorality, pursuing education, building more and more buildings, planning their case as they take each other to court, immersed in glorifying the body of every possible way, marrying and giving in marriage, buying land and houses, cars, boats and planes.  The distractions of this world are endless.

But soon the trigger will be reached.  The Holy Father will give the command.  The Holy Son will move without the slightest hesitation.  Without a hint of mercy, Christ Jesus will appear with thousands and thousands of holy angels.

As quickly as it has appeared to men, it will subside.  Gone will be all who love him.  Those who remain, will now own the peace they desired; an entire world without the influence of the Holy Spirit.

What will be the nature of the world on that day?  Shall it be much more different than today?

How many families give thanks to God before they eat their meals together?  How many people wake up early in the morning to go find a quiet place to pray?  How many people live their lives according to the rule of Christ Jesus?  How many actively seek the Lord's direction for absolutely everything they do?

Fewer and fewer, my friend

Those who believe in some alien creatures from another planet, are vastly more than those who worship the living God in Christ Jesus.  Millions attend a sporting event, but only a handful attend church.  And of those who attend the church, there are only a handful who live their faith throughout the week.

What is the world supposed to look like when the father finally sends His Son?

What may be even sadder than the great majority left behind, is how very few will even read this message.  And even worse than that, is how few of the few who read this will bother to tell someone else.

What must the world look like when the trigger is reached for God the Father to send His Holy Son?

Perhaps the baby is born tonight.  While all of you sleep, the last child of promise leaves the womb.  Perhaps the last Christian to be baptized, will emerge from the water tomorrow morning.  Perhaps the last "Amen" will be spoken in a prayer just before the crack of heaven, tomorrow night.

But go, go, go!  Go enjoy yourself while there's still time.  Ignore these things as you have in the past.  How should this message make any difference?

Let those who are holy remain holy.  Let those who are vile remain vile.  Even so, Lord Jesus, come!

Looking Forward - 2014-10-13 23:55

I prepare to start driving for the night.  As I sit and prepare my mind, I hear the whining of truck tires on the freeway.   I will soon be making the same noise.

The peace of God's creation is split asunder by the works of men's hands.  The night is carved by sounds of a day of darkness.   And there is shame in me as I sit in a peaceful place preparing for the war of noise.

How I look forward to the place where these things are not.  Where a man may walk eternally through the trees and listen to the smallest of breeze in their leaves.  The place where what God has created is appreciated far more than what a man's hands may do.

You have secured a place for me, Holy Lord Jesus.  And not only me, but millions of others who love you.  Thank you for being the mercy of our God.  Thank you for the promise of eternal peace.  And this promise delivered to us even while we live in a wicked and unholy place.

May the will of God be done forever for He alone is good and true.  Amen.

Willoughby Wallaby - 2014-10-14 06:18

A poem for my grandson Danny.

Willoughby, Wallaby, Sneaker, and Snore, cast off in two boats t'ward an elegant Shore.

Leaving behind their frail  hopes and weak dreams; risking it all to pursue The Great Scheme.

Willoughby Wallaby soon took the lead, flexing their muscles like white stallion steeds.

Sneaker and Snore barely took up their oar, considering labor a venomous bore.

Said Sneaker, "This work is is to hard for us two.  Let us hitch to your stern.  What say Double U?"

But word was sent back with a scowl and a snort, "Row as you can!  We've no time for your sort."

Soon came a Breeze, gainst their bows, to drive back.  But Willoughby, Wallaby gave work no slack.

Sneaker and Snore soon rested their oar.  And let the breeze blow them straight back to their shore.

Back to their poverty.  Back to the stench.  Elegance not being worth muscles wrenched.

While Willoughby, Wallaby soon came in sight, of an elegant castle perched high on cliffs white.

A rope was found dangling on which they could climb.  Their great oar born muscles began t'ward sublime.

Reaching the summit, they were welcomed with good, and welcomed into their fine brotherhood.

The moral is sure to escape none who read:  You get what you pay for; you reap from your seed.

God is First - 2014-10-14 18:39

Some men are given to love this world with all their heart and mind and soul.  I cannot help them more than to say, "God is first".

Some men are given to love His Holy Word with all their heart and mind and soul.  I cannot help them more than to say, "God is first".

Some men are consumed with the world's idea of aliens on other planets, or perhaps with nothing but prophecy.  I cannot help them more than but to say, "God is first".

The living God is more than this world.  The living God is more than the written word. The living God is more than conjecture.

God is first.  Nothing counts but faith expressing itself in love.  And our faith is firmly grounded in the Holy Son of God.  Eternally, it will not be otherwise.

The Ride of Your Life - 2014-10-14 19:32

Have someone tie your wrists to the tail of a powerful horse.  Now strike the horse with a stick or the sting of a whip.  You are about to encounter the ride of your life.

Tie a rope around your waist and connect the other end to the bumper of a car.  Select a careless teenager and let him drive.  At the moment of your word, you are about to encounter the ride of your life.

So it is with all who give themselves to the will of the Holy Living God.  As you have bound yourself to him, so will your life be changed.

Dare to Look - 2014-10-15 16:51

When did you learn to hide from God?  A child knows no such thing.

When did you taste the forbidden fruit, that tore down Adam and Eve?

Can you remember?  Dare you look, at the first page of your sinner's book?

You loved before then; no missteps to mend.  The world was clean and beautiful.

Do you know you can have it again?

You don't have to wait for heaven.  The door knob is at your right hand.

Just kneel and pray to Jesus, "Please give me a wedding band."

What Manner of Message? - 2014-10-17 07:09

There is a difference between the experience of a man, in Christ Jesus, and the messages He determines to have us endure.

My soul wakes to view His appearance within me.  Then, there is that personal interpretation of His intent.

Which is more important?  Which finds words in this beautiful place of testimony He has allowed me to "own".

Who can say?  Who, even of those who write, can say which finds a place to rest before men?

For the Lord is Holy in all He is.  What is given in one manner finds a response with variety.

He accomplishes that which He determined.

Getting There! - 2014-10-17 07:23

What creature will we become?

It is not given to man to know.

To be like the Angels;

Our appearance to Glow.

Or to be the fulfillment

Of our bodies "below".

Strive to find out,

With all you possess.

Break from tradition of sin.

What will you give,

Come that moment unveiled,

That new "body" to win?

"If it is hard for the righteous to be saved, what will become of the ungodly and the sinner?" (1 Peter 4:18)

THE Persistent Question - 2014-10-18 06:21

A persistent question begs entrance to my soul.

Light is the knock of its perfect fingers on my door.

Yet knock it does, and this all day and night.

Answer, O soul of mine!  Answer that your choice might be known.

Share with me, the question.

Share an answer according to proof.

Question yourself, as He demands do I.

Let us face eternity, from the wilderness side of the River.

Does our faith produce religion or transformation?  Given the question, we all know the right answer.

If all we want is to be acceptable or elevated among men, then let our faith produce a religious man.

But if we have set our mind toward the love of the Father, then let us endure toward transformation.

Millions make no choice at all, in regard to either of these.  They ignore the question completely.

They choose, instead, to embrace the things of this world.  To whatever degree their conscience allows.

They make no choice at all.

As if a shadow in the dark, they meld into the variety of ways the world offers each man to live.

But those who have heard of Christian faith make a choice.

If Christ Jesus' death and resurrection mean only religion to a man, that is what he will become.

If He suffered and was Glorified for the sake of transforming all men into His Holy likeness,

Then let the change begin.

If the latter is our choice, then where is the proof?  Are we but misguided religious Christians?

Do we think we will fool the Living God, forever?   He who loves the world, stands at odds with Heaven.

This world, and everything in it, will pass away with a fiery blast.  Nothing will remain but what the man has become.

What will we say?  What will we testify; by virtue of what we have become?  Where will we stand?

For, once this world is gone, all that remains will be Holy, Holy, and Holy.

Will we find that we have endured to the death of desire, or succumb to the great lies of this world?

Flint Feet - 2014-10-18 07:08

Will you walk with me into truth?  Even a short jaunt will produce a flame.  It is as if we are given feet of flint, at our acceptance of The Word.  With every stride we take, among the sharp rocks of truth, our feet spark with fiery intent.  Let then our feet move with dragging; that we may agree to burn the chaff.

If a man has obedience, then he is considered an obedient servant of the Most High God in Christ Jesus.  But if he is "mostly" an obedient man, yet allows sin to co-exist with holy, then he is counted as one who disobeys the commands of God.  Isn't this so?

What fellowship does light have with darkness?  As light appears, doesn't the darkness recede?  And if a man moves into darkness, where is the light that guided his path?  What path is he on now?

If we desire to live, forever, in the Holy House of God, we must cease walking in the dark.  And this brings up a relation to the "dragging of holy feet".

Can a Christian, one who is being groomed for a place in the Holy City, exchange his feet of flint for those of a man (at will of desire)?  Or do those feet remain, even while we chase after pleasure?  Don't those feet remain?  Don't they produce a holy light of holy fire and a painful sting to the one who dabbles in sin?  If Jesus has intended to save toward purpose, those feet will remain.  Yet the man's place is diminished with every misstep.

To our shame, we are like holy men who, traveling the holy golden path, sneak off into the thorny bushes to revel in some forbidden pleasure.  We intend to resume our holy pilgrimage in a short while.  But we have made the choice to endure a tearing of our flesh; a rending of our soul.  Do such men come away unscathed?

Does the Lord not notice such a man's tendency toward a love of the world?  Can such a man have hope of living eternally in the Holy City of God?  Or will he be cast out among those who live in the open spaces; unprotected and tested for eternity?

12 “Look, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to each person according to what they have done.  13 I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.

14 “Blessed are those who wash their robes, that they may have the right to the tree of life and may go through the gates into the city.  15 Outside are the dogs, those who practice magic arts, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters and everyone who loves and practices falsehood.

16 “I, Jesus, have sent my angel to give youa this testimony for the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, and the bright Morning Star.”  (Revelation 22)

Unfair Comparison - 2014-10-19 07:15

The early Church was tested, as are we.  Yes, we are all tested.  But let us be reasonable and fair.  The early Church was not tested by technology.   They did not live in a world where what happened thousands of miles away was instantly known to all.  Their focus was on what happened within the limits of their own senses.

What is similar between us is the spiritual aspects of trials and testings.  Jesus is the same, yesterday, today and forever.  But the situations of man have changed radically.

Is it harder to endure as a Christian today?  No.  What plagues all men, regardless of time, finds roots in righteousness, obedience, truthful worship, integrity to the Word of God, and witnessing about the Living God in Christ Jesus.  Isn't that enough similarity to bond us to our brothers who lived in every age?

If one wants to compare, let us remember that there are those who have worked in the "heat" of the day.  And there is still a "heat" to come.

Man loves to compare himself to others.  By some means it is necessary.  But to boast or complain is not appropriate.  God has given us birth in the age we find ourselves.  He has given each one a live in the situation of "today".  Let's endure what we have.

The amazing New Jerusalem - 2014-10-19 20:39

Please forgive me for being mathematically inept, and rather small minded.  But I just did some rough mathematics on the New Jerusalem, and came away with an astounding point of view.

The hotel Venetia Macau has 3000 rooms.  It is a luxury hotel in China.  Pretty big huh?

Now let's consider the New Jerusalem, 1225 miles square, as a hotel.  Let's just put rooms against the wall on every floor.  Let the rooms be 100 feet square with 10 foot ceilings.  But let the interior of the New Jerusalem contain whatever it will.

That's almost five hundred forty thousand floors.  That's 1.4 trillion rooms.

How long would it take you to walk up the stairs if you lived on the top floor?  How long would it take you to visit your friend on the other side of the building?

From Kansas City to California.  From Galveston to Troy Montana.  Then go up 1225 miles.

There's no question I'm wrong about all this.  But I just wanted to voice this perspective.  Whatever God does is greater than any imagination can imagine.  But do you realize that's 1.4 trillion people?

Is there room in heaven for you?  How can you possibly ask?  By the way, that's just the city with twelve pearl gates.  What about the people outside the city?

Ponderous stuff.

I can't wait for somebody to rectify my math.  Or to correct me on the dimensions.  But until that happens I'll stand here amazed.

The Invisible Bridge - 2014-10-20 12:03

I have found something interesting, something I have known, but not fully understood.  The elders talk about it.  The Deacons point toward it.  The world denies it with frothing lips.  It remains, however, before every child of God to encounter.

The majority of our walk before Christ Jesus is spent in discovery.  We cannot use excuse, before the Holy One, for our disobedience.  Yet there are reasons why we falter as we do.  Discovering these reasons comes hand in hand with growth toward maturity.

We learn not to blame anyone for our fault.  Yet we recognize that the whole of humanity has caused every sin.  And in this way, the Lord Jesus teaches us to sacrifice blame for personal responsibility.

But what shall a man do when he understands this as fully as his mind is able?  What shall we do when a man finds himself repeating offenses yet finds no one but himself to blame?

Here a man comes face to face with the fullness of the gospel.  No longer perceiving as a child.  Now he perceives as a man.  The fullness of blame rests on the one who has sinned, rests heavily.

From here one can receive the forgiveness of Christ with renewed interest.  From here the glory of God takes a prominence in all his thoughts.  The man no longer tosses about the subject of blame or innocence.  Condemnation becomes exceedingly personal.  Here the glory of God rages even brighter to consume his enemies.  Here the glory of God's mercy blazes even brighter within the flame.

I have come to discover: the Glory of Christ Jesus is stronger than our sins.  Not only in his teaching, but more so in our learning.

If you continue in the way you will discover this also.  It is the crossing of an invisible bridge.  And I speak of it so that when you yourself encounter this, there will be memory within you.

It is a difficult place to encounter.  For here a man is starkly naked before the Holy One.  But having reached the other side of the bridge I can testify, "Even in this he is able to save".

It may well be you do not understand what I'm saying.  But the time for every man will appear.  I will try it with one example to express this in understandable terms.

As a man goes to a school of learning, he learns enough to do his trade.  But he has yet to enter the workforce and apply it.  Often the world will scoff at the little bookworm who seems to know all.

But one day he goes to work and understands why they laughed.  He presupposed his importance.  And difficulties have proved his knowledge insufficient.

Now he grapples with humility.  Now he is faced to join them in their derision of the novice.  Yet even while he makes fun of pretense, he is forced to remember that he once also walked in that way.

What comes from this place I do not know.  It is not as though these things happen among men.  But this has come to me before the Holy One in all its brilliance.  Stark and true, it shines a light within my soul to illuminate every possible miscarriage of righteousness.

May understanding come in due time.  I enter into this place in full view of those who have gone before me.  And I speak of this with the humility that knows others have understood this long before I arrived.  And I have to confess the question, "Do I yet understand as I should?

Winning - 2014-10-20 17:33

The threshold necessary to win a race depends on the endeavor of all participants.  If all the contestants only render 70 percent of their potential, then the effort necessary to win is 71%.

But what shall we do if it is necessary for all contestants to render 100% whether they win or lose?  In short to win or die trying.

Isn't this the nature of the gospel?  Isn't this the necessity of the sacrifice of Christ?  Every contestant is required to obey the holy law of God the Father 100%.  Regardless their ability, the demand is perfection.  Regardless their willingness to give all, the demand is 100 percent.

Thanks be to God in Christ Jesus for the inexpressible goodness of His mercy.

He Needs Your Help - 2014-10-20 23:22

The promise of God, it's  deep and it's sure;
Lasting forever and ever.

To forfeit our standing for smallest of pleasure,

What horrible loss do we suffer.

The power of prayer is cut to the quick.

Our confidence: shattered in place.

All for the sake of a runaway smile;

On a downcast and darkened face.

Our Lord for the sake of the joy set before him,

Endured the cross, scorning its shame.

While man, for the sake of a joy set before him,

Disgraces His Holy Great Name.

Who can speak of reward such behavior does strip?

Who has understood what's ahead?

The echoes of promise lay shattered and torn,

While our heart is filled up with regret.

Isn't there something to which you can reach,

Inciting a love for your God?

Avoiding the places that rip you away;

Restraining your feet from the "broad".

There's a man who will stand on that Great Holy Day,

And his standing depends on you.

The choices you make for that hope far away,

He's depending on what you now do.

Take Back the Land of Hope - 2014-10-21 07:15

"Consider how far you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place." (Revelation 2:5)

Can you remember?  Can you allow yourself to look back?

Look back to the first time you felt the freedom of a clean conscience.  The time when you decided to take that leap of faith for the invisible God in Christ Jesus.  Simply find the time to remember.

You would have given your very life without the slightest sliver of shame or regret.  In fact, you shoved away many things you held dear for the sake of His Holy Name.   If the world would have let you, you would have held a press conference.  And in your heart you proposed to abandon every wicked relationship.

But three things have happened to you since that moment.  The desire for pleasure has crept in, largely with your blatant consent.

The shame of being different and unaccepted has left scars on your weak heart.  So, little by little, you have compromised.

The diligence of work toward holiness has been diluted by a listless, "do nothing" attitude.  Procrastination began its work in reading the Bible.  Like a toxic mold it spread to your prayer life.

Primarily, these three things have left you vulnerable  to that scripture above.  Are you satisfied with your loss?  Is your present "best" acceptable in your estimation?  Are you sure the old person you will soon be will have no regrets about your choices to date?

All that is needed is to rekindle what you have lost.

Freshly Pressed? - 2014-10-21 13:39

I thumb through "Freshly Pressed", to see if someone speaks something of value.  All I find are short articles regarding the things of men.  I didn't stay long there's nothing on the table to eat.

Some would call me stuck up, arrogant and self-righteous.  To think that I consider what I write to be of more value than theirs.

Okay that's fine.  Let's hold up every word they speak against every word the Angels speak.  What's missing?  Jesus, the Christ of God.

Now who's train of conversation will last longer, the eternal angels or man who lives but a few years?  Whose words are full of holiness and whose are full of rott gut thoughts?  Whose is the language that will last forever?  Whose string of words will change within an hour?  Who gives glory to God?  Who gives glory to man?  Decide for yourself.

Do you really expect that I should love the things of men more than the things of God?  You would call me names because I do not appreciate what you write.  It was such people who treated the Holy Lord of life like human trash, when he was nailed to the cross.

Write what you will.

You will answer him still.
Account will be given in full.

Accuse has you must.

Ostracize in disgust.
He reigns from His Holy Hill.

Happy - 2014-10-21 21:10

"What makes you happy what do you want to do?"  I have no idea how many hundreds of times that's been asked of me.

I've tried a few times to answer with what's true.  But that's not the expected reply.  I assume the questioner thinks I am either arrogant, evasive, a complete social misfit, or just playing stupid.

I. want.  one.   thing!

I want to stop being in trouble!

I say the wrong thing at the wrong time.  Or I don't speak up when I should.

I'm too overbearing, they say.  I'm too much of a pushover, leaving far too much on the table.

I leave my pen in my pocket when I do her laundry.  So I get in trouble when I try to do something right.

I am completely satisfied to eat a cold can of beans.  So why do people keep asking me what I want for dinner?

No, I don't want to go out dancing.  Dancing requires a certain measure of joy.  I don't have it!

On and on the list goes.  Apparently, a never-ending separation from humanity.  And other than the moments of lucid desire for friendship, I'm perfectly happy to remain this way.

What makes me happy?  Let me give the answer that is never understood.  I want to go home.

I want to have the peace of God on me 24 /7.  I want to understand his will so well that I do it without the slightest hesitation, and correctly.  Something I have yet to come close to attaining.

I want to overcome sin in every respect.  That would make me exceedingly happy.  I want to know just what to say to everyone I meet, so that all my speech is seasoned with salt.  That would make me happy.

Am I really such an anomaly?  Is there anyone else out there who feels the same?

I understand why they don't understand.  I got it.  Let them live as they do.  They will receive no condemnation from me.  May the holy Lord Jesus happily embrace them on that great and horrible day.

All the while I will be, in some measure, unhappy.  I am not who I want to be.  I am not where I want to be.  And this world offers nothing to change my mind.
