Yan Weiping

Yan Weiping, male, was born in December 1955 in Beijing and of Han nationality. He was graduated from Xi’an Jiaotong University with a bachelor’s degree in boiler in January 1982, with a master’s degree in thermal energy and power engineering from North China Institute of Electric Power in December 1987, andwith a doctor’s degree in thermal power engineering from Xi’an Jiaotong University in July 1992. He conducted research as a visiting scholar at the Department of Chemical Engineering of University of Birminham in UK from August 1986 to August 1987; he stayed in Energy Technology Research Center of Canada government as a senior visiting scholar during August 1996 to March 1997. He was promoted as professor in 1996 before acting as PhD student supervisor in 1998.


Professor Yan is member of both Academic Committee and Academic Degree Evaluation Committee of North China Electric Power University, editor-in-chief for Electric Power Science and Engineering, Vice Chairman of Special Committee for Boiler of Chinese Society of Electrical Engineering, member of Special Committee for Thermal Power, council member of China Carbon Dioxide Emission Reduction Association, member of editorial board of Journal of Chinese Society of Power Engineering, member of Boiler Group of National Electric Power Security Expert Committee, member of Special Committee for Academic Research and Science Promotion of Chinese Society of Power Engineering, member of Academic Committee of Key Laboratories of the Ministry of Education. Professor Yan was awarded the Special Government Allowance with the approval from the State Council in 1996, and was selected as candidate of trans-century academic leader in the Ministry of Power Industry. He was included into the Assisting Project of Ministry of Education of China for Backbone Teachers of University and College in 2000, participated in 151 Program by North China Electric Power University in 2002 and recognized as Advanced Individual in Teaching and Virtueof Hebei Province in 2004. He was recruited by North China Electric Power University as a professor of the first grade of discipline in 2004 and Second-grade Professor recognized by the Ministry of Education in 2008. Professor Yan was appointed as leader of the National High-tech Research and Development Program under the Ministry of Science and Technology in 2009.
Professor Yan was awarded the Third Prize for Science and Technology Progress Award for the “technology of fluidized-bed combustion” by the Ministry of Electric Power in 1998, “Online Analysis System for Energy-saving Operation of Thermal Power Plant Equipment and System” was obtained the Third Prize for Science and Technology Progress Award of State Power Corporation in 2002, “Research on Superfine Coal Dust Restore NOX Technology” the key scientific project appraised by State Power Corporation in 2002, Optimal Combustion in “W” Flame Boiler was obtained the Third Prize of China Electric Power Science and Technology Progress Award in 2004, and the “Boiler Heating Surface Pollution Monitoring and Optimized Soot Blower System for Large Coal-fired Power Station” was awarded the Second Prize for Science and Technology Progress of Hebei Province in 2007, “Double-scale Low NOX Combustion Technology for Pulverized Coal Fired Boiler” was obtained the Second Prize of China Electric Power Science and Technology Award in 2011.
Professor Yan is author of such works as Technology of Fluidized Bed Combustion, Clean Coal Power Generation Technology, Principle for Power Station Boiler, Specialized English for Thermal Power Engineering, Operation of Wet Process Based Flue Gas Desulphurization Device of Power Station Boiler. He is also translator of published testing regulations like ASMEPTC 2008 Testing Regulations for Boiler Performance, and ASME PTC 47—2006 Performance Testing Regulations for IGCC Power Station. Professor Yan has published more than 200 scientific research papers in academic and technical periodicals and at academic conferences both home and aboard. Also, he has been granted with two patents for utility models and five invention patents.
Professor Yan is mainly engaged in research and application of high efficient and low pollution pulverized coal combustion theory and clean coal utilization technology, oxygen-enriched combustion and CO2 emission reduction technology, biomass burning and gasification technology, heat transfer and mass transfer of vapor-liquid two-phase thin film flow, power station boiler pulverized coal combustion technology, circulating fluidized bedboiler, safety and economic operation of power station boiler, online monitoring and optimizing soot blowing of slag and soot formation on power station boiler heating surface.

Yang Kun

Yang Kun, male, was born on January 3, 1957 in Hebei Province and of Han nationality. He was graduated from North China Institute of Electric Power with a doctor’s degree of engineering in June 1992 and now is professor at the School of Energy, Power and Mechanical Engineering, North China Electric Power University, Director of Security Bureau of State Electricity Regulatory Commission. Concurrently, he is also Vice Chairman of Fault Diagnosis Committee of Power Enterprises, standing council member of Vibration and Noise Control Committee of Chinese Society for Vibration Engineering, member of Specialized Committee for Steam Turbine of Chinese Society of Electrical Engineering, council member of Beijing Society for Electric Engineering, and member of editorial board of Thermal Power Generation.


Professor Yang has presided over more than 20 key scientific research projects subsidized by National Natural Science Foundation of China, Fund for Doctoral Programs of the Ministry of Education, State Electric Power Corporation of China. His scientific research achievement was recognized as national-level new product, two provincial prizes for teaching and science and technology progress. He has published more than 60 academic papers, as well as three monographs and textbooks.
He is mainly engaged in research in the fields of safety and economic operation of thermal equipment and rotating machinery, electric power market. Currently, Professor Yang is focused on projects of Studying on Power Safety and Market System.

Yang Lijun

Yang Lijun, male, was born in November, 1970 in Shandong Province and of Han nationality. He was graduated from Tsinghua University with a doctor’s degree of engineering in engineering thermophysics in 2004 and now is associate professor and PhD student supervisor at the School of Energy, Power and Mechanical Engineering, North China Electric Power University. Professor Yang is also academic backbone in National Thermal Power Generation Engineering Technology Research Center, and Key Laboratory for Power Station Equipment Monitoring and Control of the Ministry of Education.


Professor Yang has presided over two projects subsidized by National Natural Science Foundation of China, one project under the National Science and Technology Support Program, two projects under National 973 Program, and many scientific research projects entrusted by power enterprises. Among academic papers published by Professor Yang, 16 were collected by SCI, more than 30 by EI. Professor Yang has applied for 10 invention patents, and 7 were approved. Besides, he was awarded one Second Prize of National Award for Science and Technology Progress in 2011 and First Prize for Science and Technology Progress of the Ministry of Education in 2009 respectively.
Professor Yang is mainly engaged in research in the fields of strengthening the basic theory and application technology of heat transfer and energy saving, power station air-cooled technology, new energy and renewable energy utilization technology. Besides, his research interests including the status representation and performance evaluation of nonisotropic multi-physical process, modeling and solution for multi-scale transportation physical problems, key thermal physics problems in utilization of new energy, new concept of thermology, etc.

Yang Yongping

Yang Yongping, male, was born in 1967 and graduated from Chinese Academy of Sciences with a doctor’s degree of engineering in engineering thermophysics in 1995. He is a professor and PhD student supervisor at the departments of power engineering and engineering thermophysics, North China Electric Power University, chief scientist of 973 Program, and winner of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars. Right now, he is Vice President of North China Electric Power University and Director of National Thermal Engineering & Technology Research Center, concurrently he is a member of National Energy Expert Advisory Committee, member of Expert Panel for Energy-saving and Emission Reduction in Industry Area under the Ministry of Science and Technology, standing council member ofChinese Society of Engineering Thermophysics, standing council member of China Energy Research Society, Vice Director of Thermal Power Generation Association and Special Committee for Air Cooled under Chinese Society for Electrical Engineering. He is editorial board member of Thermal Power Generation, chief editor of Electric Power Science and Engineering. He was selected into National Hundred, Thousand, and Ten Thousand Talent Project as the finalist for the first and second level of talent. He was supported by New Century Excellent Talents Support Program of the Ministry of Education and awarded with honors like National Excellent Science and Technology Worker, Excellent Young Backbone Teacher in Beijing City, Beijing Innovation Pacemaker of Education, etc.


He has long been engaged in research in the fields of thermodynamic theories, energy-saving theories and methods, thermodynamic system analysis of thermal power plant, distributed energy supply and cogeneration, power station air cooled technology, multi-energy complementary energy system, and clean coal power generation. Professor Yang has conducted thorough research in the fields of thermodynamic analysis of energy system, evaluation and system integration, involving multi-input energy system as represented by soar aided coal-fired electricity generation, multi-output energy system as represented by cogeneration and distributed energy system, multifunctional energy system as represented by energy conversion and greenhouse gas control integration, highly-integrated energy system as represented by conversion of heat into power and non-thermodynamics hybrid system of production and function. Professor Yang has also conducted in-depth basic research on energy-saving for large coal-fired power generation units from the angles of advanced energy system integration, spatial and temporal distribution of energy consumption, and positively promoted the practical application of such research results.
At present, Professor Yang is presiding over one project under National Key Fundamental Research Development Program (973 Program), and one project subsidized by the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars. previously, Professor Yang has presided over two projects subsidized by National Natural Science Foundation of China, one key project of science and technology under the Ministry of Education, one project subsidized by Beijing Natural Science Foundation, one project under New Century Talent Support Program of the Ministry of Education, one Sino-Australia cooperative project, one Produce-learn-research Project of Beijing Municipal Commission of Education, and many projects entrusted by large coal-fired power plants. In addition, Professor Yang has published two monographs, and more than 200 papers collected by SCI and EI. He has applied and granted more than 20 invention patents, obtained one Second Prize of National Award for Science and Technology Progress, one First Prize for Science and Technology Progress Award of the Ministry of Education, one Second Prize for Science and Technology Progress Award of the Ministry of Electric Power, and three Third Prizes of Provincial and Ministerial Award for Science and Technology Progress Award.

Yuan Chungang
Yuan Chungang, male, was born in July 1977 in Handan of Hebei Province and of Han nationality. In June 2005, he graduated from the Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences with a doctor’s degree of science in environmental science. From October 2005 to October 2007, he conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Alberta (Canada). From February 2013 to February 2014, he was a visiting scholar majoring in environmental engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology (USA). Currently, he is professor and PhD student supervisor at the School of Environmental Science and Engineering, North China Electric Power University.
His primary research interests include energy environmental chemistry, pollutant migration and transformation  control technology. He conducted some research in such fields as fate behavior of typical toxic elements in coal-fire power generation, heavy metal pollution detection and control in coal-fired flue gas, new high-efficiency nanocomposite preparation and its application in pollution control, and use of new energy sources and environmental effect. He undertook three research projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, one subproject under the National 973 Program, and many other research projects sponsored by the Ministry of Education, the Municipal Government of Beijing, and the Provincial Government of Hebei.
Research achievements: Professor Yuan has published over 100 academic papers (and reports) at academic conferences and in Chinese and foreign authoritative journals, 40 of which have been collected by SCI, over 980 references have been made in peer review articles; obtained nine national invention patents. He was named in the Support Program for New Century Excellent Talents in University of the Ministry of Education in 2009.

Zhang Kai
Zhang Kai, male, was born in August 1968. He was selected in the recruitment of Support Program for New Century Excellent Talents in University of the Ministry of Education, and serves as director of the Energy and Chemical Industry Research Center, key researcher at the National Thermal Power Engineering & Technology Research Center, member of the editorial board of the Journal of Fuel Chemistry and Technology, Royal Society Chinese Fellow, Honorary Senior Research Fellow of University College London (UK), member of the Society of Chemical Industry, member of professional group on Particle Technology of the Institution of Chemical Engineers (or IChemE), and council member of the Chinese Society of Particuology. He won Sun Yueqi Foundation Youth Science & Technology Award supported by the Chinese Science and Technology Development Foundation in 2008.
Professor Zhang Kai graduated from Nanjing Institute of Chemical Industry with a bachelor's degree in 1989, and obtained master's degree and doctor's degree of engineering at the Institute of Coal Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1992 and 1996 respectively. He worked at the institute upon graduation, serving as head of the research group and Deputy Director of the research office and being promoted as Associate Researcher in 1999; in 2000, he undertook collaborative research at the University of Cambridge funded by the Royal Society (UK); in 2001, he was appointed as Post-doctoral Research Fellow at the Carbon Dioxide Technology Centre, University College London; in 2003, upon return to China, he began to serve as professor and PhD student supervisor at China University of Petroleum; in 2009, he joined the School of Renewable Energy of the North China Electric Power University to lead its effort to build a green energy chemistry team.
Professor Zhang is mainly engaged in teaching and research in the fields of clean energy conversion and multiphase reaction engineering. He has delivered lectures on Clean Coal Technology, Progress of Chemical Equipment, Principles of Chemical Industry, Fluidization Engineering (bilingual) and Fluid Mechanics in Chemical Engineering (bilingual) for undergraduates and postgraduates; he has taken charge of or participated in over 30 projects funded at national or provincial and ministerial level or by the European Union and undertaken on behalf of enterprises; he is now leading or participating in about 10 projects including projects under the National 973 Program, projects under the National Key Technology Support Program, projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and projects sponsored by national or provincial and ministerial level as well as subject undertaken on behalf of enterprises; he has published over 200 papers in both domestic and foreign journals and academic conferences, and held the post of chairman of sessions or delivered reports at domestic and foreign academic conferences; he co-authored three books; he was granted with over 20 national patent grants. In 2009, he served as expert of the Advanced Energy Field Task Force under the 12th Five-Year Plan National 863 Program Strategic Research, supported by Ministry of Science and Technology.
Professor Zhang has independently or jointly cultivated nearly 50 postgraduates and doctoral candidates, some of whom, on account of academic distinction, were sent to Queen Mary, University of London (UK), the University of Edinburgh (UK), and the University of Adelaide (Australia) to achieve the PhD degree or execute joint supervision program. He has collaborated with colleges and universities as well as research institutes in countries like Britain, Australia, America, Canada, New Zealand, Italy, Japan, and Thailand for many years and has cooperation agreements and intention to cultivate postgraduates.
At present, his primary research interests include coal and biomass thermochemical conversion technology, heavy metal detection and control in flue gas, carbon dioxide emission reduction technology, multiphase flow reaction engineering, and chemical equipment and process optimization.

Zhang Shenghan
Zhang Shenghan, male, was born in October 1962 in Baixiang County of Hebei Province and of Han nationality. He graduated from the Faculty of Engineering, Osaka University with a doctor’s degree of engineering in materials development engineering. He is now professor and PhD student supervisor at the School of Environmental Science and Engineering of the North China Electric Power University.
His primary research interests include energy and environment materials development and application, corrosion and corrosion prevention of metals, and reactor hydrochemistry.
Research achievements: Professor Zhang has published over 80 papers in major domestic and foreign journals (and conferences), of which over 30 have been collected by SCI. He wrote a textbook under the 11th Five-Year Plan, and won the Second Prize of China Electric Power Sciences & Technology Award and the Third Prize for Teaching Achievement Award of Hebei Province once respectively.

Zhang Zhaohuang
Zhang Zhaohuang, male, was born in 1963. He graduated from Beijing Graduate School, North China Institute of Water Conservancy and Hydroelectric Power in 1990 with a master's degree, and obtained doctor's degree in management science and engineering at the North China Electric Power University in 2008. He is now professor and PhD student supervisor in power machinery and engineering at the North China Electric Power University, expert member to appraise the National 863 Program, advisory expert for science and technology in Jiangsu Province, and expert reviewer of Beijing Science and Technology Award. He is a member of the editorial board at academic magazines such as the Journal of Basic Science and Engineering and Mining & Processing Equipment, as well as member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (UK).
His primary research interests include the working process of power machinery and failure prevention, security and energy conservation for energy conversion. So far, he has presided over one project funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and one subproject under the National 863 Program; obtained the Second Prize of the Hebei Province Award for Science and Technology Progress once, and the Third Prize of Technological Invention Award from the Chinese Society for Rock Mechanics and Engineering; he has published two academic monographs and over 70 academic papers, over 20 of which have been collected by EI, and obtained five national invention patent grants.

Zhao Yi
Zhao Yi, male, was born in July 1956 in Qinhuangdao of Hebei Province and of Manchu nationality. He obtained the master’s degree of science in 1988. He is now dean, professor, and PhD student supervisor at the School of Environmental Science and Engineering of the North China Electric Power University. Concurrently, he is a member of the Environmental Engineering Specialty Teaching Guidance Committee of Ministry of Education, Deputy Director of the Special Committee for Environmental Protection of the Chinese Society for Electrical Engineering, member of the Special Committee for Environmental Protection Technology and Equipment of the Chinese Society of Power Engineering, Vice Chairman of the Chemical Society of Hebei Province, Deputy Editor of the journal Electric Power Environmental Protection, and editorial board member of the Proceedings of the CSEE and the Journal of Safety and Environment. He has awarded with the Fok Ying-Tung Education Foundation Award for Young Teachers Award in the Higher Education Institutions of China, he also enjoyed the special government allowance in 1993, and was given the honorary title of Labor Model of National Electric Power System in 1999 and National Model Teacher in 2007.
His primary research interests include high-efficiency clean combustion and environmental pollution control, and environmental protection and energy conservation in chemical industry. He conducted systematic theoretical research and practice in engineering application of areas as simultaneous desulfurization, denitrification, and demercuration from the flue gas by semidry method, simultaneous desulfurization, denitrification, and demercuration from the flue gas by calcium wet process, simultaneous desulfurization, denitrification, and demercuration from the flue gas by photocatalysis, carbon dioxide capture and resource utilization, comprehensive utilization of desulfurization ash, chimney corrosion after flue gas desulfurization, and economic implementation of wet flue gas desulfurization. As a result of his efforts, he has achieved a series of major breakthroughs in those areas. His major achievements include:
1. He has obtained seven provincial and ministerial awards for science and technology progress, including four second prizes for projects including the "Research and Development Based on High-activity Absorbent of Flue Gas Desulfurization and Denitrification Technology for Coal-fired Boiler" and three third prizes for projects including the "Research into Flue Gas Corrosion after Desulfurization and Anticorrosion Technology." Many of his research achievements have been adopted by many enterprises, thus helping achieve enormous economic and environmental benefits.
2. He has published over 400 papers in academic journals like the Science China, Environmental Science & Technology, Journal of Hazardous Materials, Energy, Chemical Engineering Journal, Analyst, Chromatographia, and Talanta. Among the published papers, 80 have been quoted and collected by SCI and 30 quoted and collected by EI.
3. He has written 11 books, including Environmental Quality Assessment, Harmful Gas Control Engineering, Practical Technology in Electric Power Environmental Protection and Its Application, and Practical Technology in Electric Power Environmental Protection.
4. 15 research achievements have obtained National invention patents, including "A Purification Method and Apparatus for desulfurization and denitrification from the Flue Gas." 18 research achievements have been granted with national invention patents including "A Method of Converting the Carbon Dioxide in the Flue Gas into Formic Acid under Atmospheric Pressure.
At present, he is undertaking over 20 projects funded by the National 973 Program, the National 863 Program, the National Natural Science Foundation of China, projects launched jointly with international organizations, projects sponsored at provincial and ministerial level or on behalf of enterprises.

Zhou Leping
Zhou Leping, male, was born in December 1974 of Han nationality. He graduated from the Department of Thermal Engineering of Tsinghua University with a doctor’s degree of engineering in engineering thermophysics in January 2004. From March 2004 to February 2006, he conducted postdoctoral research at the Institute of Engineering Thermophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences; from March 2010 to March 2011, he worked as a visiting scholar at the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the Georgia Institute of Technology. He was named in the Support Program for New Century Excellent Talents in University of the Ministry of Education in 2012. He is an invited reviewer to a dozen domestic and foreign academic journals, including the Journal of Heat Transfer, Experimental Thermal and Fluid Science, International Journal of Thermophysics, Experimental Heat Transfer, and Journal of Thermophysics and Heat Transfer. He served as session co-chairman of international conferences like the International Symposium on Micro and Nano Technology 2013 and the International Heat Transfer Symposium 2014. He served as a peer-review expert for projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China in the period of 2011 to 2014. He is now professor and PhD student supervisor in power engineering and engineering thermophysics discipline at the School of Energy Power and Mechanical Engineering of the North China Electric Power University.
In recent years, he has delivered lectures on Heat Transfer, Fundamental of Thermal Engineering, The Principle of Heat and Mass Transfer and Equipment and Specialty English (Power Engineering and Engineering Thermophysics Specialty) for undergraduates and postgraduates. He also led many projects, including the Program for New Century Excellent Talents in University of the Ministry of Education; Fundamental Research Project for the Central Universities; projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, projects under Beijing Municipal Natural Science Foundation, research projects grant from the Chinese Society for Electrical Engineering for Youth Scientific and Technological Innovations in Electric Power; projects funded by the Doctoral Degree Foundation of the North China Electric Power University; projects sponsored by China Postdoctoral Science Foundation and projects supported by Wang Kuancheng Education Foundation.
In recent years, he has published over 70 academic papers; of which over 30 have been collected SCI and EI, over 300 other citations by SCI. The paper he published in the International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer was cited by other 8 SCI review papers. In all, the paper was cited by others for 248 times, thereby making it one of the most-cited papers in the period of 2002 to 2005. It is also rated as the most-cited ESI paper. He obtained the Second Prize of National Award for Natural Sciences once, the First Prize for Science and Technology Progress Award and Natural Science Award of the Ministry of Education once respectively.
He mainly specialize the research in the fields as heat and mass transfer and multiphase flow, security and energy conservation for energy conversion, and solar energy heat utilization technology. His primary research interests include thermophysics issues in energy utilization, energy saving technology in thermodynamic system and equipment, strengthening the heat and mass transfer process at the surface and interface, complex heat transmission and flow process, and cross-dimension multi-physics coupling issues. He accepts doctoral and master degree candidates of second disciplines in thermal engineering and engineering thermophysics.
