### Background ###
Ransomware is a type of computer virus that, once deployed, encrypts a target's files, making the machine largely inoperable. ### Request ###
1. The number of times the agency has faced a ransomware attack, including attacks that were ultimately unsuccessful, since January 2012 to the date of this request. By ultimately unsuccessful, I mean that an email containing ransomware could have been sent to the department, but it did not lead to an infection of the target computer. Please break down this data annually.
2. The number of times the agency has successfully been infected with ransomware since January 2012 to the date of this request. Please break down this data annually.
3. The number of times the agency paid the attackers since January 2012 to the date of this request. Please break down this data annually.
4. The amount of money the agency has paid attackers since January 2012 to the date of this request. Please break down how much was paid annually.
5. Any emails sent or received by the agency discussing ransomware attacks.
6. Any internal reports generated in preparation of, or as a result of, a ransomware attack from January 2012 to the date of this request.

Good afternoon,

Could you please consider the below request on behalf of one of our members

Changes to the Finance Act of 2004 had a significant impact on the employment of retired police officers where they took employment with a 'sponsoring employer' before the expiration of a period of one month. ( other conditions applied) In circumstances where this occurred the payment of pension monies became classed as 'unauthorised payments' and forces incurred taxation penalties as a consequence.

The individuals concerned suffered a significant potential taxation implication and in some cases those effected can expect to experience severe taxation liabilities.

In that regard I write under the provisions of the FOI 2000 and seek a response to the following which is anticipated will assist colleagues in other areas who have this unexpected and unforeseen life changing financial burden.

I must stress the reason for this request is not to cause any embarrassment to any force but merely to assist the individuals concerned reach a level playing field nationally in having this matter resolved.
