Mandate: The mandate of the Authority in the region includes:
Carry out integrated sustainable development planning,
Promote management and conservation of natural resources,
Monitor and evaluate development programs and projects,

Strategic Objectives: LBDA has developed the following strategic objectives to catalyze the improvement of the living standards of the people within the Region. The objectives are:
Development of Basin-wide Integrated Development Plans anchored on National Development Blueprints to coordinate sustainable utilization and management of the Lake Victoria Basin natural resources
Formulate and implement sustainable integrated basin-based multi-Sectorial development projects and programs towards delivery of the big four agenda
