Roy A. Quint, a beloved resident of Hodgdon. Mr. Quint was a veteran of World War II, serving in Europe alongside 3 of his 4 brothers. He returned from the war and married Maxine, who was his wife for 57 years. Of the 5th generation to live in Hodgdon, he raised his own family in the house in which he was born. He served his community and family as a potato farmer and due to his successful and extensive knowledge of farming, the Quint Farm is still doing well under his son, Randy. We acknowledge his dedication to his family, his community, his State and Nation, and we join with his family in celebrating his life. Ashley Ames, of Dexter, a senior at Dexter Regional High School, in recognition of her career basketball scoring record of 1,690 points. Adam Craig, of Corinth, one of the top competitors in the National Off-Road Biking Association, finishing in 2nd Place in the time trial, 26th in the short-track race and 5th in the cross-country event and who now ranks 11th overall in the professional mountain biking circuit. the Ronel J. Dubois Insurance Agency, of Sanford, on its 50th anniversary. Three generations of the Dubois family have served the residents and businesses of Maine, New Hampshire and Massachusetts. Mr. Dubois started as an insurance agent with the Mapes Insurance Agency in 1950. In 1952, Mr. Dubois purchased a half interest in the business, and in 1955 he purchased the company and changed its name to Ronel J. Dubois Agency. In 1968, Robert W. Dubois joined his father in the business, and in 2003 his daughter Michele Dubois joined the business. We extend our congratulations to the agency on this special occasion and wish it many more years of success; (HLS 439)

the Sanford News on its 25th anniversary. Sanford's "Only Hometown Paper" started as a broadsheet with 8 columns but has undergone many changes in design and content during the last 25 years. The paper has been recognized by the New England Press Association, the New England Newspaper Association and the Maine Press Association for writing, photography and general excellence. Helen Dannells Wentworth, of Acton, on her 100th Birthday, March 31, 2005. Mrs. Wentworth was born in Newfield and married Norman Wentworth in 1929. Married for 62 years, Helen and Norman raised 3 children and she has 4 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She started her 63-year teaching career in one-room schoolhouses at Young's Ridge and Fox's Ridge schools in Acton. Mrs. Wentworth is an active member of the Acton Congregational Church and the Acton-Shapleigh Historical Society and a lifetime member of the Rebekah Lodge. Her priorities in life have always been family, church and school. We extend our congratulations to Mrs. Wentworth and join her many friends and her loving family to offer our best wishes on the centennial celebration of her life; (HLS 448)

the centennial anniversary of the Calais Rotary Club and the 80th anniversary of the international relationship between the Calais Club and the St. Stephen Rotary Club of New Brunswick. Rotary, the first community-based service organization, was formed in Chicago on February 23, 1905. It is now a worldwide organization of business and professional leaders that provides humanitarian service, encourages high ethical standards in all vocations and helps build goodwill and peace throughout the world. Approximately 1.2 million Rotarians belong to more than 31,000 Rotary clubs located in 166 countries. Among the Rotary clubs, the Calais Club and the St. Stephen Club are unusual in that the values shared between the neighboring clubs are shared over an international border. We congratulate the Calais Rotary Club for its 100 years of service to our communities, our State and to international communities and extend our best wishes to the club; (HLS 449)

Staff Sergeant Michael Severance, formerly of Lee and San Angelo, Texas. Staff Sergeant Severance served with the 317th Airlift Unit with the Air Force and was stationed in Iraq. We honor his memory and commend his bravery and allegiance to the United States and extend our condolences to his family; (IN MEMORIAM) (HLS 450)

Thomas Welch, of Hancock, upon the occasion of his departure as Chair of the Maine Public Utilities Commission after 12 years of service to the people of Maine. Educated in Philadelphia, he was a graduate of Stanford University and Harvard Law School. He served as Assistant Professor at Villanova School of Law from 1978 to 1979 and from 1982 to 1991 served the Bell Atlantic Company, rising to the post of General Attorney in Washington, D.C. From 1991 to 1993, he served the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as Chief Deputy Attorney General for Antitrust. Appointed as Chair of the Maine Public Utilities Commission by Governor McKernan in 1993, he was reappointed by Governor King in 1999. Chairman Welch's tenure included the era of the greatest changes in the history of Maine's traditional utilities, marking the transition from monopoly to competition, enduring recessions and rising costs and encompassing the deregulation and restructuring of Maine's electrical industry, competition in telecommunications, consolidation of Maine's E-9-1-1 system, increased consumer education and energy conservation and creation of Maine's pioneering Schools and Libraries Fund to extend Internet access to all our communities. To such complex challenges in such difficult times Chairman Welch brought intelligence and grace, patience and diligence. His efforts will benefit the 21st-century citizens of Maine, the "Pine Tree State"; (HLS 451)

Marty Pike, of Farmington, on his retirement after over 25 years of doing business in Farmington. Mr. Pike bought K & J Sports, originally Ferrari Brothers, in 1980. It is one of the oldest businesses in Farmington, tracing its roots back 110 years. We extend our congratulations to Mr. Pike on his retirement and we send him our best wishes on all his future endeavors; (HLS 452)

the Maine Troop Greeters, of Bangor, on the occasion of their 1,000th flight of troops greeted at Bangor International Airport. The greeters have welcomed 180,000 troops as they travel to and from harm's way. Their actions have comforted the young men and women of our armed forces and have brought great credit to Maine and the Bangor region. Sergeant Darren MeHuren, of Brooks, who has returned home after 14 months of active duty with the 133rd Engineer Combat Battalion, Company A stationed in Iraq. While in Iraq, the 133rd Company A built schools and municipal buildings and constructed new roads. The unit carries the lineage of the "Twentieth Maine" and the great American Civil War hero Colonel Joshua Chamberlain. We are blessed with generations of men and women like Sergeant MeHuren who have stepped forward to fight for the security of this nation so that we might continue to enjoy the privileges of liberty and freedom. We join the citizens throughout the State in welcoming Sergeant MeHuren home and in extending our appreciation to him for his commitment to the United States Military; (HLS 454)

Staff Sergeant Wayne Manning, of Brooks, who has returned home after 14 months of active duty with the 133rd Engineer Combat Battalion, Headquarters Support Company stationed in Iraq. While in Iraq, the 133rd Headquarters Support Company provided specialty support to the battalion's subordinate units, which include Battalion Staff, the Command Headquarters and a Direct Support Maintenance Platoon plus an Equipment Platoon. The unit carries the lineage of the "Twentieth Maine" and the great American Civil War hero Colonel Joshua Chamberlain. We are blessed with generations of men and women like Staff Sergeant Manning who have stepped forward to fight for the security of this nation so that we might continue to enjoy the privileges of liberty and freedom.
