1. Charlie Chaplin

Charlie Chaplin was born Charles Spencer Chaplin in London, England on 16 April 1889. His parents, Charles Chaplin, Sr and Hannah Hill were music hall entertainers but separated shortly after Charlie was born, leaving Hannah to provide for her children. In 1896 when Hannah was no longer able to care for her children, Charlie and his brother Sydney were admitted to Lambeth Workhouse and later, Hanwell School for Orphans and Destitute Children.

Charlie had already debuted in the music hall in 1894, when he had sung a song after his mother was taken hoarse.

2. Ask anybody which TV-show is their favorite, and they are most likely to say "Friends". Since the first episode premiered in America in September 1994, millions of people tune in every week to see Rachel, Monica, Phoebe, Joey, Chandler and Ross cope with their lives in Manhattan.
Before "Friends", the six actors who play the main characters were all unknown. Today, Jennifer, Courteney, Lisa, Matt, Matthew and David are six of the most known people in the world
What is it that makes this show so funny? I don't even know if I can answer that. For the past ten years, the world have been able to follow the gang's lives, which are very funny. Can it be Chandler's jokes, Monica's pedantidity, Phoebe's songs or Joey's stupidity that makes Friends to the most liked TV-show in the history? My answer would be that all of the six main characters contribute in their own special ways. Alone, they are useless because something's obviously missing, but together, they complete each other which results in six hilarious people.
The first seasons were funnier than the later, but the show is still great, and it's very sad that they have decided to cancel it. But that's understandable, since quitting when they are at the very top is better than to be forced to quit because of low ratings.

Topics on campus life:

1. Earlier this year, negotiators for Disney met with the giant Shanghai-based developer Lujiazui Group, discussing schedules and cooperation over constructing a Disneyland. Although some people are excited about what a Disneyland might bring to the city, many expressed their disagreement and worries. Many opponents view the proposed park as a “cultural invasion”. Does China need another Disneyland theme park? (Question 65)

2. Nowadays, it’s fashionable for many Chinese to have a blog to record their thoughts, daily life and even their own private secrets. The fact that people can say what they want on blogs not only foster the development of blogging but also is causing disputes involving personal attacks, intellectual property violation, wars of words and the disclosure of other people’s privacies. Do bloggers need a self-discipline pact? Furthermore, is it necessary to create laws to govern blogs?

2. Useful expressions

1.I got all needy and clingy.

2.We said be aloof not 'a doof' 。
3.Well, I started building one. But then I decided to take it to the next step.
take it to the next step
4. --Does anyone else think David Copperfield is cute?
--No, but he told me, he thinks you’re a fox.
5. Well, you should've told me that before, I'm not a mind reader.
6. So, you gotta play the odds, pick somebody who's gonna be in the country like all the time.
7. Oh, we used to drive each other crazy playing the shadow game.
Play the shadow game
8.--Well, I-I wasn’t hopping mad, y'know.
--You hopped a little bit. Yeah, I am really sorry.
9. Um, coffee to go, please.
10. ……And the drinks are on me!……
on sb. 如果你准备买单,你就可以大方的说“It is on me!”。
