New Lebanon is a new concept in museums, comprising a wide variety of guided tours introducing visitors to contemporary rural America. More than 50 Rural Guides introduce visitors to their workspaces, where they practice cooking, farming, cattle raising, automobile racing and mechanics, wood-working, foraging and much more. The presenters are not costumed actors or docents recalling old-world skills; they are actual townspeople of today.

Piermont Avenue will be closed to traffic, French flags will flap & restaurants and shops will place tables outdoors. Live music, glass blower & local cuisine includes traditional French, Italian, Continental, Mexican, Irish and American. Pétanque (Provençal bowling) competition. Come dressed in period costumes and witness a re- enactment of the storming of the Bastille. There will even be a guillotine on display, albeit with a wooden blade.

A plastic medallion, approximately 2 inches in diameter, has been hidden somewhere in the Valley neighborhood of Syracuse. Clues to its location will be posted each day on the Meachem Area Parks Association and the Valley Views facebook pages, starting on July 1, 2015. Clues will also be posted at Broadway Café, Betts branch library, and Green Hills market. A prize worth $100 will be granted to whomever finds the medallion in accordance with the rules.

This Beatles tribute band, a regional favorite, will perform classic songs live outside on the Great Lawn. Bring a picnic, blankets and chairs.

This annual fund-raising event, held in the Celebration Tent overlooking Northport Bay, offers a wide seafood-lovers’ menu plus wine, beer and soda, and a DJ with music for listening and dancing.

These special time-machine tours offer visitors the chance to meet the Vanderbilts’ summer guests. This summer it’s 1936 in the Mansion. Featured family guests are golf champion Sam Snead and renowned writer Dorothy Parker. Guests and household staff are portrayed by Museum guide-actors. Tours are synchronized with the evening performances of the Outdoor Summer Shakespeare Festival.

Grammy Award-winning rock band Living Colour and world renown Brooklyn native hip hop artist Talib Kweli will headline the 44th International African Arts Festival.
