Why were the Dutch of the seventeenth century fascinated with such subjects? What was public dissection and surgery of the human body like during that period? These and other questions will be answered as we enter the often dark world of art, the culture in which it grew, and the artist’s mind.

Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe met by accident in the Lamb’s Club in New York when Fritz took a wrong turn on his way to the Men’s Room. When he passed Alan’s table, he recognized him and introduced himself. That chance encounter in 1942 led to a 30 year collaboration that gave the American Musical Theatre some of its greatest hits.
