History comes alive in Andersonville when hundreds of Civil War reenactors set up camps and stage two realistic mock battles, the first at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, 2015, and the second at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 4, 2015. Sutlers selling Civil War uniforms and accoutrements and Civil War-era civilian clothing add color and interest, as do craftsmen such as blacksmiths, basket makers, quilters, weavers, and artists of all kinds. Event Name: Rock Shrimp Festival

The coastal Georgia town of Saint Marys celebrates its 43rd annual Rock Shrimp Festival with almost 100 food and crafts vendors catering to ten to fifteen thousand attendees. The festival begins with 5K and 10K races followed by a parade and day-long entertainment. The local Kiwanis club cooks dinners featuring the rock shrimp, a variety of shrimp found in Southeastern US waters with a taste and texture similar to lobster.

Event Name: Mad as Hell: The Collages of Richard Saholt

An exhibition curated by Michael Bonesteel. Intuit presents an exhibition of collages by World War II veteran Richard Saholt (1924-2014) of Minneapolis. Saholt achieved modest fame in the 1990s and early 21st century for creating large-format collages that combined lurid commercial illustrations with powerful words and phrases appropriated from printed magazine and newspapers. Saholt served in the US Army’s Tenth Mountain Ski Troop Division and earned a Bronze Star for bravery, but returned home with post-traumatic stress disorder and was diagnosed with chronic undifferentiated schizophrenia.
