Position held:Lead International Environment Health and Safety Specialist/ Social Specialist
Activities performed: Led in planning the work and organizing the environmental team to: (1), assess direct and indirect environmental impacts of the road project and its associated facilities, including physical impacts (air and water quality, noise and vibration, soils, chemical & solid wastes, etc.), ecological impacts (plants, wildlife, and protected areas), and socio-economic impacts (impacts to social environment, infrastructure, traffic, etc.); (2) assist the MOT and counterpart staff in assessment of the ongoing sustainability of the project; (3) submit completion reports evaluating the result of the project in accordance with the environmental management plan (EMP) following the format and contents specified in the ADB Safeguard Policy (2009); (4) Discuss with project stakeholders relevant requirements in the ADB Safeguard Policy Statement relevant to project implementation and assist the team leader in adoption of the EMP; (5) determine the completeness of the Contractor’s Environmental Monitoring Plan / program against the Projects Environmental requirements and recommend changes / improvements where necessary incorporating Climate Change Adaptation Measures. (6) train his local counterpart in environmental monitoring and inspection procedures; (7) prepare the annual environmental monitoring report; (8) assess the environmental sustainability of the Project; and (9) conduct training in operational social research methods and building MOT (the executing agency) capacity on performing management and impact assessment.
