The upper left corner of the tip-in sheet is actully glued 2" down & 1 1/4" out from the binding, but does not cover up any printing on t-p. Else vg+ in pc dj with couple of edge tears. Unusual! Please note the flaw to the following signatures: Green inscribed the book to "my good friend and fellow OHS (Okla Hist Soc) Board Member (name given) -- it is an 8 line inscription. On the verse the same member receives an inscription from a member of the Hitch family. However, a presumably later owner of the book (there is a later fos on the ffep, along with a "book sale" stamp) unfortunately blacked out the addressee on the Hitch presentation. You can still make it out, barely. That "blackout" bled through to the recto, defacing Green's signature. That said, (and what can I say about book owners that do such things) still an otherwise fine copy of a modern classic of ranching in the Oklahoma Panhandle, in lightly rubbed dj. (#1011059) $28.36

There is a brief handwritten note by author on the latter. From the dj: "This book unfolds a dramatic account of the struggles involved in the acquisition of the Pacific Northwest. Focus is placed on pioneer explorations, engineering projects, military establishments." Most of the subject matter appears to be in & around Puget Sound. It contains also a swatch of Pendleton blanket (the editor followed the family business & dealt in Pendletons, with special credit to the Indians who kept her grandfather in the mercantile business) & an explanation sheet.
