Partial DHCP is the response from a DHCP server that is not configured to recognize the Nortel-specific Vendor Class Identifier in option 60
(Nortel-SIP-Phone-A). After the IP Phone E is configured to operate in Partial DHCP mode, the DHCP server needs no special configuration to support an IP Phone E. Using Partial DHCP, an IP Phone
E can obtain its IP address, subnet mask, and gateway IP address. The remainder of the configuration information is manually entered on the IP Phone 1140E.
This includes the DNS server IP and the Provisioning server address and protocol.
Full DHCP modeThe DHCP server requires special configuration in Full DHCP mode. The IP
Phone E with SIP Firmware obtains Device Settings parameters from specially configured DHCP servers.
