Samuel Wetmore graduated from the University of Michigan. According to the Wetmore Genealogy, Mary was also

a doctor. It is not stated what Medical School she attended, but it is possible that she did, since in 1849 the first

woman to graduate from Medical School in America did so at the Geneva NY Medical School. It is also possible that

Mary apprenticed with someone like her uncle Francis BARBER, and went into medical practice without graduating
