Located on the fourth floor of the hospital, Tendrils will be the only enclosed garden of its type available to the public in Iowa. All fields will be irrigated. The complex will have paved parking, maintenance building, and a building for equipment, concessions, restrooms and shelter. The complex paths will be connected and become part of the local recreational trail system. A walking trail and picnic area will also be included. Hands Library board are proposing to complete a remodeling and expansion project at the J.J. Hands Library and Community Building to attract more patronage and better serve the residents of Lohrville and the surrounding area. The final phase of the project includes remodeling the library and Community Building and installing a hip roof on the Community Building built by the WPA in 1934. Although the final phase has begun, remaining matching funds listed have not been expended to date. The Library and Community Building in Lohrville is the hub of the community. It is home to a variety of activities, including but not limited to, weddings, cultural activities, fundraising events, auctions and other large gatherings. There is no other facility in a 35-mile radius that can accommodate a crowd as well as the Lohrville Community Building. The trail will connect three state parks, two county parks, a public campground, the Twin Lakes Christian Center camp and other recreational opportunities.
