Stacy Park, Trenton, New Jersey
9:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
7:00 a.m. Setup begins; early arrivals On Site
9:30 a.m. Check-in at registration table Patio/Curbside Area
- Arrive by bus shuttle, walk or car
- Check in, confirm registration and divide into 2 groups
10:00 a.m. Opening Ceremony & Program Patio/Curbside Area
Greetings and Program Overview Chris McMillan, DEP
- Opening Remarks City of Trenton Mayor George Muschal
- Opening Remarks Larry Herrighty, Fish &Wildlife, DEP
10:20 a.m. Instruction: Fishing Basics and Safety Craig Lemon, Hackettstown Fish Hatchery
10:40 a.m. Review: Fishing Derby Logistics Chris McMillan, DEP
10:45 a.m. Distribute rods, bait and bobbers to Group A
Assign kids/parents in Group A along shoreline with volunteers
11:00 a.m. Fishing Derby Competition with Group A begins (45 minutes)
Group B visits stations/displays and have food and drinks
11:45 a.m. Fishing Derby Competition with Group A ends
Group A returns rods and gear
Distribute rods, bait and bobbers to Group B
Assign kids/parents in Group B along shoreline with volunteers
12:00 noon Fishing Derby Competition with Group B begins (45 minutes)
Group A visits stations/displays and have food and drinks
12:45 p.m. Fishing Derby Competition with Group B ends
Group B returns rods and gear/collect all rods and fishing gear
Volunteers calculate winners from both groups
1:15 p.m. Closing Ceremony Patio/Curbside Area
- Presentation of Fishing Derby awards Chris McMillan, DEP
- Closing remarks and acknowledgements
- Distribution of give-away items
1:30 p.m. - Begin bus shuttles
- Pack up and clean up
