“Atlantic Records isn't f***ing around when it comes to the official Bright soundtrack.” – COMPLEX
Just one day ahead of its official release, Atlantic Records has unveiled yet another explosive track from BRIGHT: THE ALBUM, the official companion to the upcoming Netflix blockbuster film BRIGHT from director David Ayer starring Will Smith and Joel Edgerton. “Crown” – which unites Billboard’s 2017 “Breakthrough Artist,” Camila Cabello with the rising LA-based platinum selling production duo Grey – was featured earlier today as Zane Lowe’s “World Record” on Beats 1 and is available now via all DSPs. BRIGHT: THE ALBUM arrives at all music retailers and streaming services on tomorrow, December 15th; BRIGHT premieres Friday, December 22nd around the globe on Netflix.
“Crown” follows a series of exclusive track releases heralding BRIGHT: THE ALBUM, including last week’s release of “Danger” which pairs Migos with masked producer Marshmello and is joined by an action-packed companion visual featuring never-before-seen footage from BRIGHT, streaming now HERE. The week prior saw the release of “Broken People” from Logic & Rag‘n’Bone Man, which arrived in tandem with an accompanying visualizer content piece created by the animators of BRIGHT’s opening title sequence, viewable HERE. “Broken People” was preceded by “Home” from the incomparable trio of Machine Gun Kelly, X Ambassadors & Bebe Rexha. The hit track is accompanied by a heart-warming companion video directed by acclaimed BRIGHT director David Ayer. The video, which features actual cast members including cops and orcs from BRIGHT, debuted on Thanksgiving Day and is streaming now at Atlantic Records’ official YouTube channel. Earlier this week, the trio performed the song on NBC’s The Voice. Before the release of “Home,” the first two tracks from BRIGHT: THE ALBUM: “World Gone Mad” by Bastille and “Darkside” by Ty Dolla $ign & Future (Feat. Kiiara) were revealed along with the album’s official track listing. The five tracks released thus far have amassed over 100 million global streams. All companion videos can currently be seen on Netflix in the anthology BRIGHT: THE MUSIC VIDEOS.
Last night, Grey, Bebe Rexha, Migos, Portugal. The Man and more artists came out to celebrate BRIGHT at the official U.S. film premiere in Los Angeles, during which, Migos treated guests to surprise performances of “Danger,” from BRIGHT: THE ALBUM, and their hit “Bad and Boujee.” BRIGHT: THE ALBUM arrives tomorrow at all DSPs.
ABOUT CAMILA CABELLO:
Cuban born singer/songwriter Camila Cabello (Epic Records / SYCO) is no stranger to the spotlight. Beginning her official solo career after four years in Fifth Harmony, Cabello released her much-anticipated debut single, “Crying in the Club,” to rave reviews. Cabello’s newest song “Havana,” was released in August and is currently exploding on the charts. It reached #1 on the pop radio chart, which makes this her 2nd top 40 #1 as a solo artist. The track was #1 on the iTunes overall top songs chart, #2 on the Spotify Global chart and hit #1 in 80 countries around the world. The song has over 400 million streams and 304 million YouTube views. She had already earned a chart topping smash with the recent double platinum-certified hit “Bad Things” with MGK. The track generated over 240 million Spotify streams. As a result of its success, she became “the first female artist to hit #1 on Top 40 Radio with and without a group.” Cabello was recently featured on J Balvin and Pitbull’s “Hey Ma” from the worldwide hit film Fate of the Furious and its chart-topping soundtrack as well as “Know No Better.” She has also collaborated with Shawn Mendes for the platinum-certified duet, “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” which reached 10 at pop radio and hit #20 on The Hot 100 chart. Her debut album is due out January 2018.
ABOUT GREY:
Since launching in late 2014, Grey—the Los Angeles-based production duo composed of brothers Kyle and Michael Trewartha—have quickly taken the music world by storm on the strength of their viral hit singles “Starving” and “I Miss You.” Grey stepped into the big leagues via their first original release with “Starving,” a collaboration with globally acclaimed actress/singer Hailee Steinfeld featuring their mentor, Zedd, released July 2016. The breakthrough track marks Grey’s crossover into the mainstream milieu as their first platinum-certified single. The track’s stats, too, speak volumes: A bona fide hit, “Starving” reached #12 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart, peaked at #5 on the US Top 40, and also went top 10 in Australia, Canada, and the UK. Online, the track’s video counts over 250 million views on YouTube, with an additional 563 million streams on Spotify.
With the success of “Starving” on deck, Grey followed up with “I Miss You,” their first official solo single. Released at the beginning of 2017 via Interscope Records, “I Miss You” delivers an emotionally intense romp through heartbreak and heartache, lead by a seductive vocal performance from Southern California trio Bahari. The Top 40-ready track already claims impressive figures, with more than 30 million streams to date, including over 28 million plays on Spotify alone.
Grey is now at the helm of their next artistic evolution with Chameleon, their debut EP released this fall. Throughout the EP, Grey smoothly traverse an amorphous musical universe with ease and finesse, shape-shifting from its urgent beginning through to its gripping end. On Chameleon, a modern, freeform approach to production, no sound is off limits, no genre is taboo. For proof, take a spin through “Chameleon” featuring vocalist Asia Whitacre. Structured atop a moving crescendo, the track dives headfirst into a matrix of filtered guitars and synthed-out bleeps. “Crime” feat. Skott, the first single off Chameleon, was called a “dreamy floorfiller with a surprisingly huge drop” by Idolator. Grey go for the jugular on “Wings Clipped.” Featuring special guest vocal performances from Grammy Award-nominated sensation Avril Lavigne and post-hardcore hero Anthony Green, lead singer of Circa Survive and Saosin, the track is driven by aggressive guitars shredding over distorted vocal samples and full-on rocking drums. Grey also recently supported Zedd on his North American Echo Tour this fall.
