Justin Taylor (pictured above) will play for the University of Kentucky, Leo Jackson III is deciding between Tusculum University and Shorter College, Marcus Lee is headed to Lincoln University and Donald Phillips will play at Tusculum. 



The NAHS Water Warriors for their 2nd Consecutive City Championship!

The NAHS Swim Team won the APS City Championship on January 21st.  The  boys' team took first place, while the girls’ team came in second to Grady.  The boys' relay team of Dylan Diamond, Omar Ragheb, Chaz Torres, & Rehan Bhiwandiwalla and the girls’ relay team of Joy Longley, Chloe Tillis, Libby Day & Chelsea Tanner will all be competing at the State Championship meet later this month.  Joy Longley also qualifed in the 200 IM and 50 Free events. In addition, the following swimmers qualified as alternates for state:  Emerson Bouldin, Corinne Klibanoff, Eva May, Anna-Gracion Partlowe, Margot Palmer, Sam Cimowsky, Ely Zarka, Dino Galanos, Michael Maxey and London Mackey.



The NAHS Special Olympics Unified Basketball Team who won Silver Medals at the State Championship....

North Atlanta High's Special Olympics Unified Basketball Team won the silver medal in state championship competition recently. Half of the unified team was Special Olympians and the other half their peer partners.  The team is coached by NAHS teacher Lisa Oglesby.

APS Redistricting Upate

Our Board of Education represenative Nancy Meister is hosting a community meeting this Wednesday, February 8th, at 6:30 at NAHS in the theater.  The purpose of this meeting is for our community to express their concerns and ask questions about the proposed redistricting process as it relates to curriculum/instruction, facilities/operations and finance. Karen Waldon, Deputy Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction; Chuck Burbridge, CFO, and Alvah Hardy, Executive Director of Facilities will be in attendance to answer questions.Please join Nancy and her counterpart Reuben McDaniel, our at-large representative for SRT 4.  Sign up to speak will begin at 6:00 PM. In an effort to be inclusive of cluster speakers, each speaker will be limited to two minutes and each school or neighborhood will have an opportunity to speak in a rotational fashion.

Also, SRT 4 community leadership team of PTA presidents plans a coordinated response to the most recent APS demographic proposals.  If you have comments, please channel concerns through NAHS PTSA Co-President  Amy Shea at mashea@mindspring.com

Media Center News

As part of our Earth Day programming, NAHS students will be participating in a campaign with Zoo Atlanta to recycle cell phones.  Our goal is to recycle a minimum of 350 phones by March 17th.  If you have a phone you would like to recycle, please bring/send it Lori McCall in care of the NAHS Media Center on or before March 17th so that we can get the phones processed and sent to Zoo Atlanta by the April 1st deadline for the Earth Day Program.

Valentine's Day The NAHS Way

Looking for a special way to celebrate Valentine's Day?  Consider these NAHS events.....

Valentine's Movie Night at the North Atlanta Theater will feature the Romantic Comedy "Hitched" on February 10th from 4-6 PM.    Tickets are $8 for couples and $5 for singles.  All proceeds benefit the Center for the Arts production of West Side Story. 

Valentine's Day Skate With Your Date is Sunday, February 12th, from 4:30-6:00 PM at the Piedmont Rink at the Park Tavern (across from Grady HS).  All North Atlanta students, families, staff and friends are invited to attend this fundraiser for the Boys' and Girls' Lacrosse Teams.   Tickets are available online at http://www.tinyurl.com/skatewithyourdate for the advance purchase price of $12 per person (includes skate rental), enter "LACROSSE" in the promotion code box.  Tickets will be $15 if paying at the door, please mention "North Atlanta" for our team to get the credit.

The Red Hot Jazz committee (known as the RED HOTS) are hard at work and would love your help! Please consider volunteering for this event which is the largest fundraiser for the NAHS Foundation. Attention Sutton Alums...The Sutton PTA is selling Bleacher Nameplates Show Your Sutton  Spirit and memorialize your time spent at Atlanta's best middle school by purchasing a nameplate.  Submissions are due by February 10th. Forms are available on the SMS website:

The buzz is still going strong about North Atlanta Now, our annual prospective student open house that was held two weeks ago.  In addition to the student participants who were thanked in last week's Warrior Weekly, we also would like to extend our apprectiation to Mark MyGrant, Melissa Gautreaux, Jill Stewart, Robb Whitman,  Kelley Day, John Denine, Mike Featherstone, Mona Fairley-Nelson, Erica Hiers, Reggie Colbert, Natalie Bandhorst, Laura Brazil, Andre Regan, Adam Brooks and Antonio Pierce.  Thanks also to Louis Alfred and John Riley in our A/V booth; Mr. Williams for ensuring our building looked sparkling; and Mary Kay Payne and Lorrie Martin for coordinating the senior students.  Finally, props to all the baseball players and coaches who put in several hours cleaning up our athletic grounds in advance of the events.  North Atlanta Now is all about showcasing the NAHS community and our entire community pitched in to make this a great event.
