Andersen Expands Industry-Leading Monumental Door
Portfolio with New MultiGlide™ Patio Door
BAYPORT, Minn. (Dec. 14, 2016) – Architects, builders and homeowners seeking new design options to blur the line between indoors and outdoors can find the perfect blend of design and performance in the new MultiGlide™ patio door from Andersen Windows.
“The blending of indoor and outdoor living is in the very fiber of Andersen – from the introduction of the Flexivent Window in the 1950s to the gliding door in 1961 to frenchwood doors in the 1980s, homeowners have always looked to Andersen to bring a little of the outdoors inside,” said Sal Abbate, Senior Vice President, Chief Sales and Marketing Officer, Andersen Corporation. “As the next evolutionary step in connecting a house with its surroundings, the grand scale of our Monumental Doors add flexibility and boost quality of home life.”
The newest member of the Monumental Door product family, MultiGlide joins Andersen products such as folding, liftslide, pivoting, hinged patio and gliding patio doors. From dramatic openings that support your home’s style or a sliding glass wall that opens your home in a new way, the Monumental Doors available from Andersen deliver style with the quality and performance generations have come to expect from the Andersen brand.
MultiGlide, available as a custom order through Andersen dealers, is ideal for home designs that emphasize large expanses of glass in a contemporary or traditional panel style. For contemporary home styles, homeowners can specify a door panel with a 2 ¾-inch bottom rail in clad wood and all-aluminum. Traditional home styles can be reinforced with a panel featuring a variety of bottom rail heights ranging from 4 11/16 inches to 12 inches.
Designed to fit openings up to 25 feet wide and 10 feet tall, MultiGlide doors are available in stacking and pocketing configurations. For added design flexibility, panels are available in a sleek, all-aluminum option or an aluminum-clad wood option for warmth on the inside.
A choice of sill options helps define the transitions from one space to the other. Raised thresholds area available with an on-floor drainage sill, while flush in-floor sills can be sunken into the floor. The MultiGlide doors use continuously adjustable synthetic roller wheels for a smoother and quieter operation and feature an adjustable 2-point locking system that provides intuitive adjustment.
“The options available to integrate living spaces now are truly limitless,” said Abbate. “From the homeowner’s vision to the architect’s design to the installation, any Monumental Door dream can become a reality.”
