Norfolk NATO Festival
Youth Ambassador Program
Application Deadline: Friday, September 9, 2016
The Norfolk NATO Festival is a non-profit organization founded in 1953, just one year after the establishment of NATO's Allied Command Atlantic in Norfolk, Virginia. Our mission is to honor and promote the international influence the NATO Command in Norfolk, VA and its 28 Member Nations bring to our city. Festival events include education programs for our children, cultural events to engage all citizens and opportunities to empower our industries.
Youth Ambassador Program Objective: The goal of the Youth Ambassador Program is to give international high school students the opportunity to get involved with the local community through volunteer service. During the months September 2016 through May 2017, Ambassadors will be given various volunteer opportunities at local organizations. This is an excellent opportunity for high school students to meet high school volunteer requirements and is also a great chance to make new friends in the NATO community!
Youth Ambassador Program Description:
-
The Norfolk NATO Festival staff will inform Ambassadors of upcoming Volunteer Opportunities via email.
-
Ambassadors must respond to staff if they plan to attend any volunteer opportunities.
-
Staff and key adult leaders will attend events with Ambassadors and will keep track of Ambassador Volunteer Hours.
-
Youth Ambassadors may complete additional volunteer service hours, other than those opportunities directly organized by the Norfolk NATO Festival, but the opportunities must be approved by Festival staff. Additional hours must be reported to Festival staff in a timely manner.
-
Youth Ambassadors will be recognized for their exemplary efforts at a Reception in their Honor and on the Festival’s website.
-
Ambassadors are we encouraged to “Rise up through the Ranks” by volunteering more than 25 hours and earning stars as they reach new levels of service. The Ambassador with the most volunteer hours will be awarded and recognized as the “2017 Youth Ambassador of the Year.”
