1. The winning score came on a 68-yard pass from Bob Dethman to Gene Gray in a cold rain. Extra bleachers were brought in from rival schools to hold the over capacity crowd. Ironically, the losing team’s quarterback, Tommy Prothro, went on to coach the winning team to the same bowl several decades later. With over 56,000 tickets printed and then sold out in a span of three days, the profits went to pay off the debts for Cameron Indoor Stadium. FTP name the bowl game played in Durham, NC on January 2nd, just weeks after Pearl Harbor, moved from its usual west coast home for fear of Japanese invasion, and where Oregon State defeated host Duke 20-16.

Answer: The 1942 Rose Bowl (Prompt on Rose Bowl)

Looking farther back, this city also gave us the Searchers, the Swinging Blue Jeans, Gerry and the Pacemakers, and a little group called the Beatles. All of these artists (and more) come, FTP, from what city, whose residents are called Liverpudlians.

Answer: Liverpool
