___10. Use DIFFERENT Voices
Use more than one voice. The more people you get to do voices for your
production, the more “Ear-Appealing” it will be.
___9. AVOID Using Editing Effects on Adobe Audition
Rarely (if ever) use Adobe effects. For that very rare occasion when an Adobe
effect is absolutely necessary (almost never), then only use minimal effects.
___8. Use ORIGINAL Sound Effects
Make real sound effects using props, such as a person brushing his or her teeth. You can do this by bringing in all the materials you need and recording it.
___7. Use DIGITAL Sound Effects or “Prop Created” Sound effects.
Use sound effects that are on sound effects CDs, on the sound effect generators, or
that you download from online (only if rights-free). Be really creative with sound
effects as long as they fit with your production. Or create effects using props.
___6. Use Of MUSIC
Find music that fits with your production (It goes along with the mood or pace).
Use the music that is meaningful to your production, not just a random song.
ANY MUSIC THAT GOES UNDER SPEAKING IN YOUR PRODUCTION
MUST BE INSTRUMENTAL!! (When using music under a voice, the voice must
dominate. The music must NOT drown out or blend with the voice.)
___5. Sound EDITING
Use different types of music under your production and blend it. Fade the
Opening and closing music in and out, mix sound effects in with the music and
voices. Make sure to keep your modulation EVEN and peaking at the WHITE
LINE in Adobe Audition. (Peak means the highest point of your production)
___4. Vocal TECHNIQUES
Don’t just use your own “normal” voice. Vocally act to change the pace or pitch
of your voice. (Vocally act instead of using Adobe effects) but make sure it fits your
production. Also make sure that the accent, pitch or vocal acting that you use can
be easily understood; it is NOT “Ear-Appealing” if you can’t be understood.
___3. Vocal IMPERSONATIONS
If you are really good at imitating a celebrity, then you can use that in some
productions, when it fits and is effective.
___2. Use SOUND BITES and / or ACTUALITIES
Get sound bites from other sources, like highlights or bloopers from your show or
projects, voices from other DJ’s, newscasters, other students, community members, etc.
___1. CUT LOOSE AND TAKE RISKS
Some of the best production has come from people who cut loose and took risks.
Use your imagination and originality. Make your production something special!!
